For many veterans, navigating the world of benefits and services can feel overwhelming. From health care and counseling to education, employment and burial benefits, the resources available are numerous, but figuring out where to begin can be a challenge. That’s where members of the American Legion Post 185 in Mount Joy hope to make a difference. To help veterans and their families access the benefits they’ve earned, Post 185 will host a Veteran Benefit Information Session on Thursday, Nov. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 47 W. Main St., Mount Joy. “The purpose is to connect the veterans and their family members directly to the organizations and key points of contact that can assist them across a variety of resources,” explained Stacey Miller, service officer for the American Legion. Sometimes, all it takes is one conversation with the right person to open doors to the help they need, she said. W hile the event will take place in Mount Joy, it is open to veterans from all parts of Lancaster County. The Legion has invited a wide range of agencies and partners to be part of the event. Representatives from the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and VFW state headquarters will be available to answer questions about VA hospital benefits and the process for applying. Veterans will also be able to learn about burial
