he 33rd annual Putt for Education mini golf fundraiser will take place on Friday, Oct. 4, at the Village Greens, 1444 Village Road, Strasburg. Proceeds from the event will benefit Junior Achievement of South Central PA (JASCPA), which is gearing up for another year of educational programs it offers in schools across Lancaster County and the surrounding area.
many students in Lancaster County were greeted by a special staff member: a facility dog that has been trained by United Disabilities Services (UDS) to help kids overcome the anxiety and stress of the school day. Dogs trained by UDS specialize in a few key areas, but the organization has seen a growing trend in the number of local school districts requesting canines for their classrooms. “Our main goal is to give students a taste of all the different things out there in the world.” Teams of four may sign up for one of three tee times, which will be 9:30 a.m., noon and 2:30 p.m. Twenty-four teams will begin golfing 24 holes at each tee time, and the team in each time slot with the best score will receive a trophy. Registration will include lunch and tickets for various prize drawings, which will feature gift baskets and items donated by local businesses and restaurants. Golfers may also participate in a contest to chip a ball into a hat to receive a prize. Different prizes will be offered during each time slot. Specific programs are offered at different grade levels, but each activity falls under one of three educational pillars: financial

There’s a lot of options available,

The women had recently received diagnoses of breast cancer, and the treatments prevented them from receiving an income or insurance from working. The bake sale raised more than $9,000, and it prompted Lynda and her husband, David Charles, to create Mountville-based nonprofit Help The Fight. Fifteen
years later, the organization has raised more than $1.2 million dollars for breast cancer patients throughout Lancaster County. Help The Fight will host its 15th annual fundraising banquet on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Spooky Nook Sports, 75 Champ Blvd., Manheim. The event will take place from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m., and it will include live and silent auctions, prize drawings and giveaways. Only 500 tickets for the banquet will be sold, and the deadline for registration is Saturday,
