Return Of The Rubber Ducks BY ADRIAN ESCHENWALD
The 34th annual rubber duckie race and festival will return on Sunday, Sept. 11, at Lancaster County Central Park, 1050 Rockford Road, Lancaster. Festivities will begin at 2 p.m. and conclude at 6 p.m. The rain-or-shine celebration will include a variety of games and arts and crafts activities as well as several food trucks to provide food and drinks available for purchase. There will be no charge for attendance, and participants may sign up for a duck to enter in the race on the day of the event. See Duck Race pg 10

Church To Accept Clothing Donations For Haitian Communities BY ADRIAN ESCHENWALD

in a clothing drive in partnership with Danita’s Children to support communities in need in Haiti. The church will collect donations until the end of September in the form of
clothing and monetary contributions, and will it post an Amazon wish list for other specific items that are needed. Ascension Lutheran Church first began supporting Haitian communities with mission trips in 2007 and started a program to assist Haitian students as they attended college in the United States. “The program was something we really felt called to do through the church,” said Kelly Moore, a member of the church and organizer of the clothing drive. “Education is so important, and it’s so hard for them to get. The whole idea of the program was to support students so they could in turn support their own communities.” See Clothing Drive pg 12

Labor Day Auction To Support Hospice & Community Care BY ADRIAN ESCHENWALD
The annual Labor Day Auction will be held on Saturday, Sept. 3, and Monday, Sept. 5, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Solanco Fairgrounds, 101 Park Ave., Quarryville. The rain-or-shine event, which has been held for the past 38 years at various locations, will benefit Hospice & Community Care. Admission and parking will be free. See Auction pg 2
