Lancaster Community Market will feature local bands and vendors BY ADRIAN ESCHENWALD
he Lancaster Community Market will return to the area on Saturday, June 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will take place at 311 Stanley K. Tanger Drive, Lancaster, located by the guest service area of the Tanger Outlets, and it will include live entertainment, kids activities and local vendors and nonprofit organizations, Live music for the Lancaster Community Market will be provided by gospel musician Chuck Mock and local outfit Small Town Troubadours, a rock band based in Quarryville. Small Town Troubadours’ members include high school students from the Solanco and Hempfield school districts. Multiple local vendors will sell a variety of items during the event, including homemade jewelry, hand-poured candles, wreaths, dog treats and accessories and bath products. Lancaster-based author

Chas Williamson will have books available for purchase and signing. Food and beverages will be available to purchase from a slew of food trucks, such as G’s Concessions, Brotherly Love Scratch Kitchen, Under the Bridge Cider, Joe’s Fish Sandwiches and Kona Ice of Lancaster. Several nonprofit organizations will operate stations at the Lancaster Community Market to provide information and offer free activities for kids. Organizations such as the Lafayette Fire Department, Vital Theatre Company and many local food pantries will be in attendance, and the children’s activities will include a bounce house and face painting. The Lancaster Community Market was first organized in 2021 by MJ Small Business Squad, a marketing agency that seeks to promote locally owned companies in Lancaster. LUMC will introduce new program Teen SummerZine program will return to Jeff Engroff of Millersville became involved with youth ministry as soon Lancaster libraries as he graduated from high school in The third annual Teen SummerZine program will return to Lancaster on Tuesdays, June 6 and 20, July 11 and 25 and Aug. 1 and 15. The sessions will begin at 4 p.m.; the July sessions will be held virtually over Zoom, and the June and August sessions will take place at Manheim Township Public Library, 595 Granite Run Drive, Lancaster. Through the program, youths
ages 12 to 19 will have opportunities to collaborate with multiple guest authors to write poetry and short stories, as well as work together on comics and visual art. At the end of the program, the students’ work will be published in a printed magazine that will be available at each library in Lancaster County. The meetings in June will feature guest author Jared Reck of Hanover. Reck teaches eighth-grade language arts and has written
1984. He attended Worship Center in Leola and began to volunteer, which eventually led to full-time work as a youth ministry director for various local churches. Engroff worked full time in youth ministry up until the COVID-19 pandemic, when the closure of many church programs caused him to find work elsewhere. Two years ago, he decided to seek work where his passion lies and became the youth director at Lampeter United Methodist Church (LUMC), 1101 Lampeter Road, Lancaster.
