I think it’s very, very important to remind people what the holiday is all about. Yes, it’s nice to have a picnic. It’s nice to have hot dogs and hamburgers and open the swimming pool up and do all those things. But also, keep in mind what the holiday is all about. The educational purpose is very important to me.” The annual parade, in its 78th year, will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 26. Participants will begin forming along Clearview Drive at 9 a.m. The commemoration will conclude with a service at

t will be a summer reading celebration, and everyone is invited. Strasburg-Heisler Librar y, 143 Precision Ave., will hold its Summer Reading Program kickoff party on Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to noon. The event will be held outside in front of the building, weather permitting. It will be canceled if there is inclement weather. The library will provide its regular services during its normal Saturday hours, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. “It’s a good time to start off summer by getting kids involved with reading,” Strasburg-Heisler Librar y director JJ L andis said. “It’s a lot of fun for the community.” There will be a bounce house sponsored by Paradise Station (The Red Caboose Motel, Casey Jones’ Restaurant, and The Barn at Paradise Station). Joe on the Go Coffee Co. and Penny’s Ice Cream Truck will have beverages and tasty treats for sale. Strasburg Fire Company will bring a truck for photo ops, and officers from the Strasburg Borough Police Department will be on hand to interact with kids. There will also be giveaways, cornhole, and a giant bowling game. The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania will have a table,
