Exercise is good for the body. Play is good for the soul. On the surface, the Chuckie M a g e e F l a g Fo o t b a l l a n d Cheerleading League for adults with disabilities is all about physical activity. But just below it resides elements of competition, socialization and fun. “Everybody needs physical activity,” said Randy Samuels, a coach and the coordinator for the program. “A lot of these young people don’t get out as

much as others. Some aren’t very fast, but we get them out there running and having a good time. They learn teamwork. They get to socialize with their friends.” Affiliated with Aaron’s Acres, the Chuckie Magee Flag Football and Cheerleading League has opened registration through the early days of July and the program is looking for players, sponsors and volunteers. The program consists of a 10-game schedule and games are played indoors on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon from Aug. 3 to See Flag football pg 2

Students are chosen from the school’s two teams, the Minutemen and the Colonials; each student has exhibited traits such as good character and shown a willingness to serve others. “(The Rotary Club of Lancaster) is proud to present these awards to exceptional students in recognition of honor, scholarship, service, patriotism, leadership and courage,” said Tony DeVito, president of the Rotary Club of Lancaster. “These are all qualities that the club holds dear. It was a real pleasure to meet such exceptional students.” “I was very honored to get this award from a great organization that helps a lot of people,” said Hunt. “My family helped shape me to be the way I am, which I feel has helped me work hard in class and be a leader in my extracurriculars.” As an international service organization, the Rotary Club’s mission is to bring community
