Although there will be no admission fee to Waystock, guests may bring nonperishable canned
goods or a cash donation to support the Hempfield Area Food Pantry. Attendees who bring five or more nonperishable items will be eligible to participate in a prize drawing for a $50 gas card. The annual Waystock tradition was started by Chris Rowles, a founding member of Grace Notes. Rowles organized an evening concert in the yard of the church that featured several
local praise bands, and church leadership decided to use the event as a way to benefit the Hempfield Area Food Pantry. The concert has continued to benefit the food pantry every year, and Wayside has raised thousands of dollars for the organization since hosting the first Waystock. “From the beginning, we chose a local mission to support. Acorn Acres Wildlife Rehabilitation, located in Millersville, is about to make histor y. In May, Acorn Acres’ founder and executive director, Betsy Shank, announced a new campaign to secure funding for a major expansion. United Disabilities Services (UDS), 2270 Erin Court, Lancaster, will host an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 13. The event will offer members of the public an opportunity to learn about the organization’s service dog program and the many ways it benefits local schools and individuals throughout the community. “We’re trying to reach out to as many people as we can. Not only to

talk about the program and offer a look behind the scenes, but also to make some new friends,” said UDS service dogs manager Lori Breece. “Not everyone can afford a sponsorship, but we could use (donations of) dog food.” During the open house, UDS will share information on sponsorships and other ways people can support the service dog program. The event will include various demonstrations from dogs and clients, and staff members and volunteers will be
