GOTR seeks superstars for spring season BY ADRIAN ESCHENWALD

Girls on the Run (GOTR) Lancaster will open registration for its upcoming spring season on Thursday, Feb. 15. The organization will have teams in multiple school districts in Lancaster County and the surrounding area, and girls who are in third,

fourth or fifth grade are invited to sign up with their local group. Registration will remain open online at http://tinyurl.com /GOTRlanc24 until the first week of the season, which will kick off on Monday, March 11. Over the course of the 10-week spring season, GOTR teams will meet twice a week See GOTR pg 2

no standard written test; Hanusa’s students are tasked with creating their own business plan to win over a panel of investors on Hempfield Shark Tank. Halfway through last semester, teams of Hanusa’s students started the project by exploring potential innovations and marketable solutions. Once the teams chose their business plans, they spent the next few weeks getting feedback from friends, relatives, local entrepreneurs and members of the public. If a team did not receive the desired feedback on its product, Hanusa allowed its members to modify their plan and rework the product. As the last day of the semester ap proache d, students were given one week to polish their prototypes and write the perfect pitch. Maple trees that are located in cold climates accumulate sap in their trunks and roots to prepare for winter. In early spring, the trees convert the sap’s starch to sugar, after which it is pumped throughout their branches to grow new leaves.
