Geyers UMC plans Easter egg hunt

e y e r s U n i t e d Methodist Church (UMC), 1605 S. Geyers Church Road, Middletown, will hold its annual community Easter e g g hunt on Palm Sund ay, March 24, at 1 p.m. This event is free and open to the public and will be held rain or shine. Children age 13 and under may bring their baskets to collect some of the more than 4,000 plastic eggs that will be scattered across the church lawn. In addition to the candy and toys inside the eggs, there will be free prizes for all the children. The Easter Bunny will be present for photos, and the Londonderry Fire Company will bring a fire truck to the event and offer goodies to attendees. After the egg hunt, all children and adults may pick up a free bag lunch. Each meal will include a hot dog, chips, a dessert, and a drink. Preservation society to feature historical dances The Lower Swatara Township Historic Preservation Society will host a dance demonstration by the Victorian Dance Ensemble (VDE), the performing troupe of the Civil War Dance Foundation. The event will be held on Thursday, March 21, at 6 p.m. in the community hall at the Lower Swatara Township Fire Department, 1350 Fulling Mill Road, Middletown. Manada Conservancy earns national recognition Manada Conservancy achieved accreditation through the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, joining a network of more than 450 accredited land trusts across the nation that have demonstrated their commitment to professional excellence and to maintaining the public’s trust in their work. “Accreditation demonstrates Manada Conservancy’s continuing commitment to permanent land conservation in Dauphin County,” said Will Dingman, executive director. “ We are a stronger organization for

having gone through the rigorous accreditation program. Our strength means special places - such as the Kittatinny Ridge will be protected forever, making central PA an even greater place for us and our children.” One of the conservancy’s partners in protecting the Kittatinny Ridge, the Nature Conservancy, provided significant encouragement and grant funding during the accreditation process.
