neighbors and their extended families.
All those varying levels of cheer will be celebrated at the upcoming New Holland Christmas on Main event.
“New Holland just enjoys an opportunity to come together, and the Christmas season is an easy time to be reminded of our community togetherness,” said Danielle Landis, a member of New Holland Christmas on Main’s planning

committee. “The best thing for me is looking or walking down Main Street and seeing all the clusters
of families and friends there just making memories. The reason I like to do these things is I enjoy creating

Assisting others is an important way to utilize the talents we have been given. That message is never more meaningful than it is during this season of the year.
It’s that same message that makes “White Christmas” a beloved and inspirational holiday production.
“It’s a really popular show, especially at this time of the year,” said Jamie Hilton, the director of Cavod’s upcoming production of “White Christmas.” “I want people to come away with a sense of generosity. That’s

Without hope, there is nothing. Services that provide hope where there once was none or little can be life changing. Now I Can Foundation deals in the business of hope.
“Only God can make miracles happen,” said Allison Ebersole, Now I Can’s executive director. “But we’re helping make miracles happen, and we’re giving families hope. The sooner we can (start working with) kids, the better chance we have of making a change.”
Located at 100 W. Millport Road, Lititz, Now I Can Foundation Northeast aims to provide hope to families with children disabled by disorders like cerebral palsy, spina bifida and other gross motor delays and genetic conditions. The results don’t lie.
“Some of our patients come in not walking. Some leave walking. Some leave running,” said Ebersole. “I love being able to see the change that the therapists can make. I like being able to connect with families. I love when moms cry, because that was me with my daughter. They’re tears of happiness. Until you live it, you can’t understand it. I’ve been in a similar boat for 16 years.”
The secret to the Now I Can Foundation’s success is the relatively basic concept of intensive physical therapy. It’s similar to regular physical therapy, only ramped up a few intensity notches.

There’s this happening in the Conestoga Valley area that blurs the line between Thanksgiving and Christmas and combines the spirits of both holidays. Thankful individuals are inspired by what they have to give to others who have less.
The event is called Cookies and Greens.

“There’s a lot of excitement (on the morning of the event),” said Fulmer. “We take the work out of Christmas cookies and arrangements. It’s just a really great event for getting ready for the holidays. It helps people who don’t want to make cookies.”

“It’s not about the cookies. It’s not about the greens,” said Denise Fulmer, one of the organizers of the fundraiser. “It’s about sending a fellow sister out to preach the Gospel in other places in the world.”

“I know what I’m supporting is helping other women,” she continued. “It’s almost like shopping small, but in a different way. With me, I’d buy the cookies and greens anyway, so it’s going to help women all across the world.”
This year’s edition of the annual Cookies and Greens event will be staged from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 80 Hellers Church Road, Leola, inside the decorated barn of one of the other organizers, Barb Daegan. Proceeds from the fundraiser, which is free to attend, will benefit local missionary Tabitha Shilalo and her work to provide

Cookies and Greens will feature freshly cut evergreens that can be used for holiday decorating, as well as premade Christmas arrangements. There will also be gift items available for purchase.

“We want to give people the opportunity to feel like they’re helping,” said Fulmer, a resident of Manheim Township.
The wide assortment of homemade cookies that will be available at the event includes oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip, coconut, sugar cookies and snickerdoodles, and there will also be chocolate-covered pret-

zels and chocolate-covered Ritz crackers. The treats are packaged and sold in oneand two-dozen amounts.
At last year’s fundraiser, supporters baked and donated a total of 124 dozen cookies, and the event sold out.
“It’s usually pretty steady throughout the day,” said Fulmer. “(The organizers)
all come from different churches in Leola, New Holland, Denver and Lancaster. The reason we do it is Tabitha and her mission. One of my friends at my church was on the committee, and I said I’d like to help. That’s how I got involved. Some of the ladies go to Unto and help sew the

directed by LSO chorusmaster William Wright, and the performance will feature vocal soloists Jessica Beebe, soprano; Lauren Cook, alto; Aaron Sheehan, tenor; and Joseph Lattanzi, bass. The concert will last approximately two hours and 25 minutes, with one intermission.
Composed in just 24 days during the summer of 1741, “Messiah” premiered in Dublin in April
1742 to resounding success. The work is structured in three parts: Part I describes the advent and birth of Christ; Part II details Christ’s life, resurrection, and ultimate victory; and Part III celebrates the redemption of humankind and the promise of eternal life.

what Christmas means to me and this community. It’s a time to share your gifts and talents.”
Cavod Performing Arts will present its interpretation of Irving Berlin’s classic Christmas musical “White Christmas” eight times over six days in early December at the 200-seat Cavod Theatre, 641 W. Main St., New Holland. The shows are scheduled for Friday, Dec. 5, at 6 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 6, at 2 and 7 p.m.; Sunday, Dec. 7, at 4 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 12, at 6 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 13, at 2 and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 14, at 4 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased at https://cavod .org/events/white-christ mas and at the door if the performances are not sold out.
“The audience can expect everything they love about ‘White Christmas’ the movie,” said Hilton. “They’ll find great singers, iconic moments from the movie, fantastic dancing and upbeat numbers that get in your head for the holiday season.”
Cavod’s two-hour production of “White Christmas” is broken down into two acts, which are separated by a 15-minute intermission. The lobby and auditorium will open 45 minutes prior to each showtime.
The story is set at an inn in Vermont, and the musical’s plot revolves around

veterans and successful entertainers Bob Wallace and Phil Davis; two beautiful singing sisters; and the group’s mission to help the inn’s owner, a former army commander. The show’s score features a number of memorable songs and dance routines.
“‘White Christmas’ is just really a beautiful, warm nostalgic Christmas show,” said Hilton, a resident of Strasburg who’s directing her third Cavod production. “We want to tell that story and give people that warm, fuzzy feeling they’re looking for.”
“Our biggest challenge (has been), ‘How do we make it snow?’” continued Hilton. “My favorite thing about working at Cavod is that it’s intimate and small. But when you think of a show as grandiose as ‘White Christmas,’ it’s really a wonderful challenge given the size of the cast.”
There are about 55 individuals involved with the production of “White Christmas.” The cast of 35 actors and actresses includes adults, teenagers and youths of varying experience levels from all across Lancaster County.
“There are a lot of familiar Cavod faces, and there are some newbies we’ve never worked with before,” said Hilton. “They are a delightful group of Lancaster people. They love Jesus. They love Cavod. They love the arts. They work really hard. Some have a day job and
come in on weekends. They’re just so much fun. We’re just having a really good time.”
“I think what they get out of this is a sense of community,” Hilton added. “We’ve been building this sense of community, and when we get to the performances, it gets shared with the audience.”
The production team for “White Christmas” was built in September, the same month that the initial auditions were conducted. Since rehearsals began in October, the cast and crew have been working on the musical for four hours on Fridays, six hours on Saturdays and three hours on Sundays.
“For shows like this, people give up their whole weekends to be a part of it,” said Hilton. “It is a huge commitment. We really love what we do. The best part of the performing arts to me is the community, the collaboration. Every day we’re telling stories. This is just a different way to tell a story. I love the shared memories. The community part is why we do this.”
“Cavod is a nonprofit theater,” added Hilton. “I think the money goes right back into more productions and into the community.”
Among Cavod’s upcoming shows are “Titanic, The Musical,” from Feb. 27 to March 8, and “Anastasia, The Musical, Youth Edition,” from April 10 to 12.

pads.”
More than 100 individuals are expected to visit Cookies and Greens. The organizers are hoping to raise more than $5,000 for Shilalo’s mission of mercy to developing countries.
“I am more than happy to support (Shilalo) and her mission of good because I know I could never do it,” said Fulmer. “Her supporters want to help her make a difference. She also has monthly supporters. This helps her to continue doing this mission.”
Cookies and Greens was established in 2020. After a taking a year’s hiatus, the fundraiser has been staged every holiday season since.
“It’s brought in more and more cookies being donated and being sold,” said Fulmer. “I think we’re doing a better
job of getting the word out about it. Everybody’s got their part in it, and I think that’s helped grow it over the years.”
Through Unto, Shilalo has taken the LuoPad mission to “the toughest places” in the world, impoverished areas that are war torn or affected by natural disasters.
“I think part of what Tabitha does is tell women they’re loved and that Jesus loves them,” said Fulmer.
“Sometimes when she’s spreading the Gospel, she’s in countries that don’t allow that. There’s some risk, but her heart is to make them feel loved and maybe a little more whole. These women hear about Jesus.”
For additional information about Tabitha and her mission, go to www .give.cru.org/0900170.
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), and school bus safety advocates recently honored three school bus drivers for their superior driving skills during a ceremony at the State Museum of Pennsylvania.
During the ceremony, officials spoke to the critical role that school bus drivers play, transporting more than 1.4 million students across Pennsylvania daily. Officials also recognized the winners of the 46th State School Bus Driver Safety Competition that was held in June at Bald Eagle Area High School in Bellefonte. More than 50 drivers were judged based on their performance on a written exam and a practical driving skills test on a closed course.

The winners in the conventional bus category this year were JoAnne Cowan with Krapf School Bus in Chester County, first place; Angie Martin with Brightbill Transport in Lancaster County, second place; and Patricia Carey with Krapf School Bus in Chester County, third place.

The Lancaster Art Song Society (LASS) will present a concert of Christmas favorites at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7, at The Trust Performing Arts Center, 37 N. Market St., Lancaster. The afternoon performance is pay-what-youwill, and seats may be reserved at www.lbc.edu/ events or www.lancaster trust.com.
Featured at the concert will be the LASS chamber singers, Laus Deo, which means “Praise Be to God” and encapsulates the choir’s purpose of giving honor and praise. At the Dec. 7 concert, Laus Deo will perform selections alongside New York City musician Joanie Brittingham, who is a soprano, writer, and editor of Classical Singer Magazine, and local actor and singer Matthew Wilhem, who has performed with Sight & Sound Theatres and Servant Stage.
Laus Deo members are part of the developing vocalist program of LASS. They receive intense vocal training, have the opportunity to attend concerts and vocal workshops, and
observe and glean from professional guest vocalists. The choir performs for retirement communities and churches and presents concerts at various venues. Laus Deo also ministers in song to the homebound, as well as to those who are receiving hospital or hospice care.
Since 2023, LASS has performed and sponsored classical singers at The Trust while promoting this art form by helping to grow audiences for classical singing recitals and concerts locally. Simultaneously, young members of Laus Deo are trained and provided scholarships. LASS is solely funded by donations and pay-what-you-will musical events.
With a mission to provide vocal training to developing vocalists while also offering performance opportunities for classically trained professional artists, the Lancaster Art Song Society presents concerts for audiences of all ages. Director Heidi Shannon and assistant director Johanna Howarth bring years of

experience in teaching and performance.
Shannon has taught music to people of all ages for more than 20 years. She earned a bachelor’s degree in music education (voice) from Bob Jones University and a Master of Music from West Chester University. She holds Orff Schulwerk Certifications, Levels I-III, as well as the Master Level. Shannon has also performed with OperaLancaster and directed its first
two tours of opera tales. Howarth is a native of Lancaster County and holds a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies and a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance from Lancaster Bible College (LBC). She has accompanied for LBC, OperaLancaster, and Prima Theatre. She has also enjoyed performing in musicals, concerts and various events. She has taught elementary music in school settings, as well.

We are very thankful for EPC and Jacob!

Bill Creighton began his journey with Weaver’s Toasted Grains nearly 20 years ago. Now, just shy of his 90th birthday, Bill will be moving closer to his children in Newtown, PA.
In the early years, you could find Bill behind the wheel delivering product, chatting with farmers, and building relationships everywhere he went. His warm smile and joy for life have truly been at the heart of WTG. His connection with the drivers who drop grain off is “one in a million,” as owner Earl Weaver often says.
Over the years, Bill became far more than a team member—he became a tradition. New employees quickly learned that if you wanted to understand the culture of Weaver’s Toasted Grains, you sat with Bill for a few minutes. His stories, wisdom, and humor had a way of grounding people and reminding us all what matters most: integrity, hard work, and kindness. Whether it was offering a listening ear, lending a hand, or simply brightening the day with a joke, Bill consistently went above and beyond in ways that can’t be taught.
The Weaver’s Toasted Grains team and our customers will deeply miss the daily smile, laughter, and positivity that Bill brought to our workplace and community. His presence has shaped who we are today, and his legacy will continue to influence the culture of WTG for years to come.
We wish him the very best and many

more years of happiness as he begins this next chapter closer to his family. Thank you, Bill, for nearly two decades of dedication, character, and heart. You will always be part of the WTG family.

At Now I Can, pediatric patients condense 57 hours of physical therapy into a three-week period, something like four hours a day, five days a week, depending upon the age of the patient and the condition. Many traditional models offer 40 hours of physical therapy a year - 45-minute sessions once a week for 48 weeks.
“Children with neurological challenges need repetitions and they need thousands of repetitions,” said Ebersole. “It’s that concentrated effort that makes a difference. It’s teaching the brain new paths to do things in a different way.”

Now I Can’s intensive physical therapy is designed for patients between the ages of 10 months and 18 years. Partly due to the intensive nature of the therapy, Now I Can treats between two and eight patients during any threeweek time frame.
Those patients reside in Lancaster County and the surrounding counties of Lebanon, York, Dauphin and Bucks. Thirty percent of Now I Can’s kids come from outside of Pennsylvania.
“They are children whose parents have hope for them to be able to reach goals others have thought
impossible for them,” said Ebersole. “There are very few providers who use intensive physical therapy around. We’re the only one in the state of Pennsylvania. There’s an extreme need for it. One of the biggest problems we have is that locally people don’t know that we exist. To me, that’s a really big issue. As much as we want to help the world, we really want to help local families.”

“When some of our patients come here, they can’t do certain things,” said Ebersole. “When they’re here, we hear kids say, ‘Now I can.’ We hear it from parents too. We have kids coming here needing walkers and then not having to use walkers anymore.”
Now I Can Foundation Northeast opened its doors in 2022 after borrowing some of its treatment models from Now I Can Foundation in Orem, Utah. Ebersole’s daughter Lauren, now 16, made significant progress in her experience with cerebral palsy during family visits to Now I Can in Utah when she was younger.
“This year is a pivotal year for (Now I Can) because we’ve really been growing,” said Ebersole. “Each year we’ve been growing, and we have tons of space. We’re looking to add more therapists so we can treat more kids. We want to help kids with disabilities reach their full potentials.”

memories, and when I see those things, I feel like I completed my mission.”
Presented by the New Holland Business Association, this year’s edition of the annual New Holland Christmas on Main will take place from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29. The event will be conducted from Custer Avenue to Railroad Avenue on Main Street, as well as on portions of Roberts Avenue.
Those streets will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning at noon.
“What’s neat about the timing is that it’s two days after Thanksgiving,” said Landis. “So it’s a great way to kick off the Christmas season.”
There will be plenty to see and do at New Holland Christmas on Main, and many of the activities will be free. Among the free attractions will be rides on a full-size carousel; rounds of miniature golf; two different historical walking tours guided by New Holland Area Historical Society members; performances by magician and balloon artist Mr. Sneakers; a scavenger hunt game featuring prizes; touch-atruck machines, tractors and emergency vehicles; and musical numbers from solo acts, a local band and a vocal ensem-
ble from Garden Spot High School.
Many of the downtown businesses will be open, offering free refreshments, activities and fun.
“Our hope is that it feels joyful, relaxed and laid back,” said Landis, “but also fun. There are a variety of fun activities for families with kids of all ages, young people and older people.”
New Holland Christmas on Main will begin with an indoor Christmas market craft show at 9 a.m. But the highlight of the event may be two visits by Santa Claus himself: indoors at the New Holland Area Historical Society, 207 W. Main St. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and outdoors at the town green at 3 p.m., after his arrival on a fire truck.
Prior to Santa’s outdoor arrival, Mrs. Claus will read Christmas stories.
Then at 6 p.m., the annual Christmas tree lighting will take place.
There will also be nine food trucks on-site, offering a variety of hot and cold dishes for sale.
“All the activities are designed to be family friendly or related to history,” said Landis, an Ephrata resident who was born and raised in New Holland. “It’s a fun thing to do in our small town. The sun goes down, the lights go on, the tree is lit, and it feels like something out of a
movie scene. We like to call it ‘New Holland’s Hallmark moment.’”
Several thousand people, mostly residents of the New Holland area and surrounding towns, are expected to attend New Holland Christmas on Main.
“We’re not trying to make a dollar; we’re trying to celebrate the season and have fun,” said Landis. “There may be a few craft fairs and church activities around the holidays, but there are no other events like this in the streets in the middle of New Holland.”
This year will mark the 18th time that the New Holland Christmas on Main has been celebrated.
“My understanding is that it was started because the businesses wanted to do something for the community during the winter season,” said Landis. “There really wasn’t anything going on in the winter. It’s definitely evolved and grown over the years. In this world where everyone’s schedules are so busy, especially around the holiday season, I hope our Christmas event is not just another thing to check off. We don’t want anything from people; we just want them to come and experience this community event.”
