rossNet Ministries needs help filling more than a few backpacks with back-toschool items. Corrine Horning,

community events and outreach manager with CrossNet, reported that the organization gave out 725 of the 750 backpacks that were prepared for the 2024 Backpack Program. This year,

Horning plans to fill 800 backpacks in anticipation of giving away even more. To gather the necessary items for the pro g ram, up to 15 donation bins are distributed

throughout the community. This year, those bins will be delivered to churches, businesses, and various other local organizations on Thursday, June 19. Horning expected to place collection

bins at Christian Fellowship Church, Ephrata National Bank, Hinkletown Mennonite Church, and Bank of Bird-in-Hand in Bird-in-Hand, among other locations. Requested items are new, See CrossNet Ministries pg 2

New Holland Junior Fair Board forms

According to Bob Spotts, active member of the New Holland Lions Club since May of 1954, the club was chartered by the Lancaster Lions Club in 1925, after a group of about 25 New Hollanders gathered for the purpose of starting a club. That group chose to become part of Lions Clubs International. On June 1, the New Holland Lions Club members gathered with Lions district governor Deb Keeports and past district governor Bill Grager for a special ceremony to celebrate 100 years of the club’s community involvement.

When the New Holland Junior Fair Board met for the first time in February, six area teenagers took part. New Holland Fair president Paulene Redding was pleased with the attendance. “The first meeting went great,” she reported. “I was very impressed with the group of kids. They are so outgoing and enthusiastic.” The New Holland Junior Fair Board is open to students ages 13 to 18. Meetings are held the fourth Thursday of each month

from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the fair building, located at the corner of Franklin Street and Roberts Avenue. “We will provide pizza at the beginning of each meeting because they are running from school and other activities,” stated Redding, who noted that New Holland HVAC is sponsoring the pizza. “We will feed them for the first 20 minutes.” A few of the members of the board have credentials in the area of agriculture or have volunteered previously with the fair. “I have always loved the fair,”
