Dark comedy will shine in “Arsenic and Old Lace” BY CATHY MOLITORIS

“This show is full of twists and turns around every corner.” thinks he’s President Theodore Roosevelt, and his nefarious brother Jonathan, who is on the run from the law. The show will offer audiences a mix of comedy and drama, said Jacqui, who portrays Aunt Abby. “The show is about two aunts who are very sweet people. They

are very charming,” she shared. “But they also think murdering old men is part of their charm.” The women hide the bodies of their victims in the cellar and do their best to keep their villainous activities from their visiting family members. “They poison elderly men using elderberry wine,” said Brendan Fritz, a senior who plays Mortimer. “They think they are providing peace for these men, who are lonely. They think they’re doing something good.” “Arsenic and Old Lace” is set in the 1940s. Grant provides canoes and more for anyone interested in getting out on the water BY CATHY MOLITORIS

Dr. David Eichler loves being out on the water. He also loves sharing his knowledge of boating with students of all ages. Now the member of Glossbrenner Church in Mount Joy can do both those things more often. Thanks to Eichler’s efforts, the church was awarded a Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission (PFBC) R3 grant in July. “R3” stands for recruitment,

retention and reactivation. The grant awarded the church funds to purchase seven canoes, a trailer, paddles and personal flotation devices (PFDs). Eichler taught health, physical and outdoor education at Donegal High School for 35 years. He used canoes provided through PFBC grants and fundraising initiatives to teach and certify students in boat safety. When he retired in January of 2020, he hoped to keep instructing See Grant pg 7
