ooking around a local park, Benjamin Dice saw a problem, and it was something he wanted to fix. “I grew up playing baseball for the Elizabethtown Boys Club, and Old Trolley Line baseball field was my home field for my last season,” said the 2025 graduate of Elizabethtown Area High School and the Mount Joy campus of the L ancaster County Career and Technology Center. “The field needed dugouts to help protect the players from the sun and weather.” Benjamin, who joined Cub Scouts in first grade, knew he could help. He installed two baseball dugouts at the park, located in Mount Joy Township. For his efforts, he earned his Eagle Award,

Construction began in March of 2025, and the finishing touches were completed this past June. “To complete the project, it took a total of 330 hours between planning and all of the volunteers that helped to construct the dugouts,” Benjamin shared. “The final part of the project was adding gravel to the dugouts. Go shopping on Thursday, Nov. 6, and you can pick up a new outfit while supporting local young mothers. WhirliGig Unique Boutiques will host a fashion show to benefit Second Grace, a nonprofit that provides mentorship and resources to single moms. The fashion show will take place at the boutique, 206 S. Market St., Elizabethtown, beginning with a happy hour at 5 p.m., followed by the show and shopping at 6 p.m. “The idea for this fashion show was born out of a desire to celebrate both local creativity and community,” said Callie Tomblin, program coordinator for Second Grace. “We wanted to create a space where fashion meets purpose, highlighting unique pieces while supporting local designers, businesses and causes. It’s also a fun and engaging way to bring people together for an evening of style, connection and giving back.” Many of the items in the show will come from WhirliGig Unique Boutiques, a locally owned store known for mission-driven fashion, Tomblin said, noting that the clothes featured will include items from independent designers and local small retailers. “Our models are all community members, people from different walks of life who are passionate about supporting local talent and being part of something uplifting,” she shared. “Most of the items featured in the show will be available for purchase right after the event. We’ll have pop-up shopping areas set up so guests can browse and buy what they loved on the runway.” She emphasized that while See Shop pg 6
