Bingo For Bus Drivers BY CATHY MOLITORIS
If your child goes to school in either the Elizabethtown Area or Donegal school district, chances are he or she has ridden a Durham School Services bus. Now you can give back to the bus drivers by attending a special event.
Fall bingo will be held on Sunday, Oct. 30, at the American Legion Post 34, 1388 Arcadia Road, Lancaster. The doors will open at noon, and bingo will begin at 2 p.m. “We will have a variety of prizes like designer handbags, a movie night prize, a workout prize and more,” said Stacy Moore, bingo committee member. Ron Bernhard, who volunteers with the event, said two days is hardly enough. “We have a lot of people and a lot of families who come all day both days,” he stated. “There is so much to see and do.” The 24th annual Susquehanna Old-Fashioned Field Days will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17, and Sunday, Sept. 18, at Conoy Park, 2115 River Road, Bainbridge. The Conoy Lions Club will host breakfast beginning at 7 a.m. both days. Opening ceremonies will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday and at 10 a.m. on Sunday. “We really try to focus on family things to do and lots of things kids will enjoy,” noted Ron. “We will

Craft vendors and live music will be featured on both days. Food will be provided by various civic organizations, including the Conoy Lions Club, local Boy Scout troops and local churches, said volunteer Tonya Bernhard, Ron’s wife. A benefit auction will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, showcasing household goods, antiques and baked goods. Proceeds from the auction will be used to fund future Old-Fashioned Field Days. Children’s activities will include a hayride to a pumpkin patch, where kids can pick out a pumpkin. “ We’ll also have a barrel train, and we’ll have corn boxes for kids to play in like a sandbox,” Tonya commented.
