Behind a building on East Washington Street in Elizabethtown, volunteers are providing essentials for living to people who need them while aiming to preserve the dignity of the recipients. The Clothing Barn, located at 61 E. Washington St., is an outreach of United

Churches Elizabethtown Area (UCEA). It provides clothing and accessories for people who are referred through ECHOS, The Community Cupboard of Elizabethtown, local churches or the Elizabethtown Area School District. “We are trying to meet the needs of the most underprivileged, of the people who need this the most,” See Clothing Barn pg 7

or more than 35 years, the Elizabethtown Lions Club hosted bingo at the Elizabethtown Fair. Now the event is back for the second year after the group took a break for about 10 years. Bingo will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. every evening during the fair, which will run from Monday, Aug. 21, through Saturday, Aug. 26. Bingo will also be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on

Wednesday, Aug. 23. It will be held in the large building closest to East High Street Elementary School. “It’s a lot of fun and it’s inexpensive entertainment,” said John Lerch, treasurer of the Lions Club, inviting everyone to come to bingo. “Cash prizes are offered at the end of each round.” The Lions Club holds bingo to raise money for the Elizabethtown community, particularly people with vision and hearing loss. “We

also hold bingo to get to know the members of our community better and raise awareness of who we are and what we do,” said bingo chair Dave Longenecker. The Elizabethtown Lions Club takes an active role in the community, supporting a wide variety of projects and initiatives. The group provides scholarships to high school seniors; sponsors the annual football awards and banquet for the Lancaster-Lebanon League; and

It’s the key to a successful way. We don’t want to give up on them.
