Students Will Bring Hope to Vietnam BY CATHY MOLITORIS
From Sunday, May 31, through Thursday, June 18, a group of volunteers from Elizabethtown will demonstrate how far community service can go. On Mother’s Day, share your love for Mom by getting active and helping the community at the same time. The 11th annual Rotary Club of Elizabethtown’s Mother’s Day 5K will take place on Sunday, May 10, on the grounds of Masonic Village. Race-day registration will open at 1:30 p.m., and the race will begin at 3 p.m. The course will start and end near Veterans Grove on the campus, 1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown. The timing of the race is intentional, said organizer Dan Brill, who noted that activities typically wrap up by 4:15 p.m. so families can enjoy the rest of Mother’s Day together. “We just want to celebrate moms on their special day,” he shared. “It’s always a fun time and a great way to bring the community together.” Prizes will be awarded to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three male and female finishers in seven age brackets: age 14 and under, ages 15 to 19, ages 20 to 29, ages 30 to 39, ages 40 to 49, ages 50 to 59 and age 60 and older. In addition to the race, attendees can enjoy door prizes, music and snacks. Race tech shirts will be available while supplies last, featuring the names of business sponsors. Brill also expressed appreciation to Masonic Village for the use of its beautiful grounds. “While the race is a longtime favorite event, it also comes during a milestone year for the Rotary Club, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary of community service,” Brill remarked,
