Celebrate love, sisterhood and friendship when the magic of “Disney’s Frozen: The Broadway Musical” comes to the stage at Elizabethtown Area High School. The show will be performed at 7 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 26 to 28, with an
additional show at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Shows will be performed in the auditorium of the high school, 600 E. High St., Elizabethtown.
Based on the Disney film, “Frozen” tells the story of sisters Elsa and Anna as they navigate love, fear and the unbreakable bond of family. Audiences will hear iconic songs such as “Let It Go,”
“Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” and “For the First Time in Forever,” along with music written specifically for the stage version.
Portraying well-known and beloved characters has been fun but challenging, cast members said.
“There is a little bit more pressure because you want to portray that same character, but at the

The Arc Lancaster Lebanon’s goal is to empower and improve the lives of residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism. The Arc executes its mission and achieves its goals by advocating for and educating the families of individuals with disabilities. It’s both a grassroots and holistic approach that focuses on the importance of home and relationships.
“Where I really see the empowerment is through education and being a resource center for people who are gaining

Second Grace began in 2021 when founder Candace Abel was moved to start the organization after volunteering as a Court Appointed Special Advocate and noting that young mothers in the program could benefit from additional support. The organization pairs mentors, called “Sages,” with young single mothers, called “Graces.”
“Our informational sessions are designed to give potential volunteers a clear, honest picture of what it means to serve as a Sage mentor with Second Grace,” explained Callie Tomblin, program coordinator. “During these sessions, participants learn about our mission, the structure of the program and the role Sages play in supporting single mothers, or Graces, as they work toward stability and long-term independence.”
The session will cover an overview of Second Grace, how the mentorship model works, how

Graces are referred to the program and the holistic approach to support offered through the nonprofit.
“We then walk through the Sage role in detail, including expectations, boundaries, training and the support mentors receive along the way,” Tomblin said. “There is also ample time for questions so attendees can determine whether this opportunity is a good fit for them.”
She noted that a good Sage is someone who is compassionate, patient and willing to build a consistent, trusting relationship.
“Sages do not need to be experts or ‘fixers,’” she said. “Instead, they are steady, non-judgmental sup -
porters who are open to learning, listening and walking alongside a Grace mother through real-life challenges. Reliability, empathy and a willingness to commit are far more important than professional credentials.”
Sages support Graces in a variety of ways depending on individual needs, she said.
“This can include regular checkins, encouragement, helping navigate appointments or resources, offering practical life support and modeling healthy relationships,” Tomblin explained. “Sages are a stable presence, someone a Grace knows she can rely on as she works toward her goals.”
The time commitment of a Sage
is meaningful but manageable, she said.
“Sages commit to a one- or two-year mentorship relationship and typically spend about six to 10 hours per month connecting with their Grace and participating in program-related meetings or training,” Tomblin explained. “We believe this consistency is critical to building trust and creating lasting impact.”
No advance registration is required for the information sessions, and Tomblin hopes people will consider attending to learn more.
“The session is a no-pressure opportunity to learn, ask questions and explore whether this kind of

For senior Josephine Sirinides, who portrays Anna, the role is a dream come true.
“Back in 2019, ‘Frozen Jr.’ was the first musical I was ever in,” she said, noting that she regularly gets comments from people saying she shares Anna’s personality in real life. “This has been a dream role of mine ever since I started doing theater. … I’m very confident in embodying such an iconic character because I’m so similar to her already and I’ve spent so much time admiring this character and looking up to this character.”
A few of the actors will be working on stage with puppets that were created by students.
“I’m playing my character as a puppet that’s attached to my body,” said Evelyn Kopp, a junior who portrays Olaf. “It’s also usually a male actor playing Olaf, so that’s a little different than what people may be used to seeing. It’s been a struggle to portray someone who is so iconic and that people are going to still be able to recognize is the same character.”
As Kristoff, junior Calvin Binkle will also work alongside a unique co-star, with senior Jacqui Anderton inside the costume portraying the reindeer Sven.
“Kristoff is the main good guy but it’s also tricky because at the beginning, he’s kind of a jerk,” Calvin said. “Portraying a likeable jerk is something I’ve found a little hard, but it’s also fun.”
Freshman Ben Creason is excited to step into his first role in the production when he portrays Hans.
“My character is a little bit difficult because he’s an infamous character,” he said. “All the kids watching already know what’s
going to happen. Some of the new songs that were added to the show, a bunch of those are my songs, so I have to build the character they see in the movie, but I also have to portray a different character than what they’re expecting. It’s a little bit difficult, but I’m excited to see how it plays out.”
For Calvin, the role represents his first time in the spotlight.
“I’ve been part of the tech crew since middle school, but my friends encouraged me to try out for this show,” he said. “I’ve had a really good experience so far, and it’s been a lot of fun.”
The students noted that audiences can expect to see a visual spectacle, complete with elaborate costumes, sets and staging.
“We’re collaborating with Messick’s Farm Equipment, and they do a light show every year,” said Evelyn. “Their son is on tech, so they’re going to be helping us with lights around the stage, so when Elsa uses magic, it will light up.”
Overall, the cast members are excited to bring a classic story to life on stage.
“It’s such a sweet story,” Josephine said. “It’s about love, not necessarily romantic love, although that’s included, but family love. It’s a story of building a family with more than just your sister and learning how to love.”
And it’s a story that audiences should connect with, especially the students’ peers, said Josephine.
“This movie came out when I was in kindergarten, so for kids who are now in high school, this was a big part of our lives growing up,” she said. “I think the musical adds so much more depth to those iconic characters, and the audience will love getting to know more about them.”
Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased at https:// tinyurl.com/EAHSFrozenTix or at the door beginning one hour before each performance.
Classical Conversations of Elizabethtown will host a science fair showcasing the projects of its seventh-grade Challenge A students on Saturday, Feb. 21, at Saint Paul’s Church, 398 N. Locust St., Elizabethtown. Free public viewing of the projects will take place from 2 to 3 p.m.
The science fair is the capstone event for Challenge A students. The students follow the scientific
method as they develop a research problem, construct a research question, and design and complete an experiment to test their question. The project culminates in a research paper, a lab notebook, a presentation board, and an assessment by a judge. At the science fair, students showcase their projects. knowledge on being a part of the community,” said Abby Morris, executive director of The Arc. “That’s what our hope is. We at The Arc feel that every person deserves the same rights that you and I have. We get to choose what we eat and where we want to work. Everyone in America deserves to have those rights. Sometimes the most vulnerable part of the population isn’t seen from that light. We want to champion for them.”
Headquartered at 116 W. Airport Road, Suite A, Lititz, The Arc Lancaster Lebanon is open Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Fridays by appointment. The Arc Lancaster Lebanon, which conducts support events at its office and out in the community, employs resources from The Arc of Pennsylvania and The Arc of the United States and collaborates with similar local service agencies.
“I want people to know we’re
here,” said Morris. “We want to help, and we’re a free service. People should not be navigating (disabilities) alone. We provide advocacy and family support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism. We want to be the voice of people with disabilities.”
Overseen by a board of directors, The Arc sponsors happenings, activities and programs like sensory-sensitive community events, an Arc Angel giving tree, seasonal parties and a sensory-friendly Easter egg hunt.
The Arc Lancaster Lebanon also conducts educational and support groups for siblings and parents of family members with disabilities.
“We want to empower young people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism to lead a full and independent life of their choice,” said Morris. “That looks different for everybody. We have an advocate and a family support specialist who work individually with each

The Arc Lancaster Lebanon is currently serving more than 100 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across all of its programs. They reside in Lancaster and Lebanon counties and range from elementary school children to adults in their 60s.
“They go to public schools, they go to your places of worship, they’re your next-door neighbors,” said Morris. “Those are all the people we are working with. We help parents who are fearful their children are not receiving the proper schooling. It’s 78-year-olds who are still taking care of their children. It’s a whole spectrum.”
The Arc Lancaster Lebanon employs four full-time workers and two part-timers. The local nonprofit also benefits from the assistance of volunteers at community events.
The Arc is funded through contracts with Lancaster and Lebanon counties, a membership program, grants, personal and private donations and fundraising efforts.

“I feel very passionate about meeting and talking to (state) legislators about why the work we’re doing with people with disabilities should be in the budget,” said Morris. “We want to work with legislators and educate them. We’re wanting to bring people together and continue to get the message out.”
The Arc of the United States was founded in the 1950s, and the local branch was established in Lancaster in 1978. The Arc Lancaster Lebanon is one of 33 chapters in Pennsylvania.
“When our most recent executive director, Maureen (Westcott), retired last year, she knew The Arc needed to go in a new direction,” said Morris. “That’s what I’ve been tasked to do. I want to build up our development and enrich the great work that was already being done.”
