An Evening with Ben Franklin BY CATHY MOLITORIS
Benjamin Franklin may have died more than 200 years ago, but you can meet the man in person when Craig Hall presents “An Evening with Ben Franklin.” He’ll be joined in the program by Sheryl Williams, who will portray Franklin’s friend Madame Brillon.
Hosted by the Mount Joy Area Historical Society, the program will be held on Monday, July 17, at Cemetery Road Schoolhouse, 120 Fairview St., Mount Joy. It will begin at 7 p.m. and will be followed by refreshments. Hall and Williams, who live in Lititz, are living historians. “We are not re-enactors,” Hall clarified. “Our See Franklin pg 12

Vehicles, including antique cars, classic cars, muscle cars, street rods, Corvettes, motorcycles and trucks, will be in the spotlight, and local restaurants will serve a variety of food. In the past, Main Street Mount Joy had hosted the event, but when that organization disbanded earlier this year, a group of community volunteers stepped up to continue the show. “We have volunteers from the Kiwanis Club of Norlanco-Rheems, Mount Joy Rotary, Mount Joy Lions Club, Voyage Mount Joy and the Red Rose Antique Car Club,” said Linda Eberly of the people who make up the event committee. “People in

Head out to Mary Mother of the Church (MMOC) in Mount Joy, and you can pick up a bargain while also supporting the community. The church, 625 Union School Road, will hold its third annual Christmas in July Bazaar on Saturday, July 15. The event will run from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. “It’s just a fun time to come in, wander around, pick up some inexpensive items and maybe win
something, too,” said deacon Joe Cingle. He encourages attendees to participate in the church’s “Elves Fill the Shelves” initiative by bringing food items to be donated to local pantries and/or school supplies to be donated to local schools. “For every three items you bring, you’ll get a free Basket Bonanza ticket as a way to say thank you,” Cingle said. The Basket Bonanza will feature more than 150 themed

Approximately 50 awards will be presented in various categories, sponsored by local businesses, clubs and organizations, said Allory Melhorn, who represents Voyage Mount Joy on the committee.
