nswer: This Mount Joy man recently appeared on “Jeopardy!,” fulfilling a longtime dream. Question: Who is Matt Wheeler? Wheeler not only appeared on the show in June, but he also won, taking home $13,500. “I’ve been curious about a wide variety of subjects as long as I can remember,” Wheeler said. “When I was young, my mom took my brother and me to our local public library, and I often came home with tall stacks of books about states and countries, dinosaurs and planets. In more recent years, ‘Jeopardy!’ has featured as a key part of weekday evenings for my family, with my wife and me referring to an appointment as ‘being just before Jeopardy!’ or completing a task after the show.” He said about 15 years ago, he began seriously considering trying out for the show, and when the “Anytime Test” was introduced in 2020, allowing people to apply online anytime up to once a year, he took it.

where families share the joy of happy dogs running and wrestling and where a stronger community grows, one wagging tail at a time.” As the park marks a decade of operation, the organization will hold several fundraisers to support its mission. “Althoug h there is an annual membership fee to join Dog Park Mount Joy, landscaping alone costs more than $10,000 a year, and fundraisers help cover

When a beloved pet is aging or nearing the end of its life, the emotional weight can feel overwhelming. That’s when Ashley Page steps in. As a certified endof-life pet doula, she offers compassionate, nonmedical support to both pets and their people, helping families navigate aging, terminal illness and difficult end-of-life decisions with care and dignity. “My role is to help families feel supported emotionally, practically and compassionately,” she said. “That support can look very different depending on the family’s needs. Some people reach out because they need help understanding quality of life changes, while others are preparing for euthanasia, struggling with anticipatory grief or simply feeling overwhelmed caring for an aging pet.” Based in York, Page is the owner of Willow Bridge Crossings. She provides in-home services throughout the county as well as in Lancaster County, and she offers virtual grief support services anywhere through phone calls, text support, FaceTime or Zoom. “I can help families create comfort-focused routines at home, make environmental adjustments for senior pets, talk through end-of-life planning, provide euthanasia presence and support, assist with memorial ideas and aftercare guidance and offer grief support before and after a loss,” she said. She knows what it’s like to lose a pet and to feel alone in her grief. “After unexpectedly losing my soul dog, Jackson, I found myself facing a kind of grief that

“Simply, ‘Jeopardy!’ is my favorite show, and it’s a rare cultural institution that it seems that practically everyone in the country knows. It rewards attention and curiosity - as well as quick recall,” Wheeler said. “It’s rightly viewed as a thinking person’s game but is widely beloved. Given my affinity

for trivia, I see ‘Jeopardy!’ as the top of the mountain for that - and the best game show out there. I’ve played at home so many times, I wanted to try my hand at being on the show.” He took the online test once a year until he was invited to the second audition step at the end

“We have been open for 10 years, yet we seem to be one of Mount Joy’s best kept secrets,” said Lynn McCleary, president and co-founder of Dog Park Mount Joy (DPMJ). “For 10 years, Dog Park Mount Joy has offered more than a doggie playground. It is a place where dogs gain confidence and shed stress, where members become confidants of one another,
