We’re heading into the dog days of summer, but that term will have a literal meaning on Saturday and Sunday, July 6 and 7. Keystone DockDogs will present Tails and Ales, a

community event showcasing the sport of dock diving, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days at 151 Orange St., Mount Joy. People are invited to bring their dogs to try the sport or to enjoy the other canine participants. The organization will partner See Tails pg 2

Girl Scout earns Gold Award for Mount Joy VFW project BY CATHY MOLITORIS

Looking at the exterior of the Mount Joy VFW, Sarah Hamm realized something. “There was nothing terrible about it, but it could use a little bit of love,” said the 2023 Donegal High School graduate and longtime Girl Scout. Inspired to get creative, Sarah focused on spr ucing up the building, located at

125 Longenecker Road, and she earned her Girl Scout Gold Award as a result. For her project, Sarah planted flowers and completed other landscaping. She also put her art skills to work creating an original mural on the side of the building. “I went to a few meetings at the VFW,” Sarah said, noting that her father and grandfather are both VFW members. “One of
