Olde Salem Craft Bazaar will offer homemade gifts, food and more BY CATHY MOLITORIS
Ask the members of Historic Salem United Church of Christ about their annual bazaar, and you’ll get a variety of fun reasons to visit. “It’s time to socialize, have lunch and do some shopping for others or pamper yourself,” said Julie Bigler. Food Pantry and The Giving Table. “This is a family-friendly event and a way to come together and have fun for a great cause,” noted North, who is the pastor of Wrightsville Presbyterian Church. “We will have food trucks, crafts, games, a bounce house, a face painter, a live band as well as a free meal for each attendee.” Last year was the first time the event was held, and it was very successful, he said. “We raised $1,000 in cash donations for local organizations dedicated to fighting hunger. In-kind donations included 500 nonperishable food items as well as 24 complete hygiene kits, and folks had an amazing time,” North shared. “We

The motto of the Columbia Lions Club is “We Serve,” and the group will put that mission into practice with the annual Christmas Food Box Delivery. Working with members of the Sunsnappers, the club will deliver items to people in need in the greater Columbia area on Sunday, Dec. 22. “The food box project exists in town to help families that may be in need,” explained Josh Birk, Lions Club member, encouraging
anyone in need to sign up for a box. “There is no judgment or anything. The project is there to support the people in town. It’s also a very hearty meal.” Each family that registers will receive all the fixings for a traditional Christmas dinner as well as additional food items, including turkey, mashed potatoes, butter, milk, eggs, cereal, fruit and vegetables.
