Support Hope in Columbia We all need the support of others, but where do people turn when they don’t have a family or friends to help? A care home in Columbia fills this need, and now you can help it continue its mission. “Our Home of Hope provides a warm, welcoming home to individuals who may be in need of a little extra care and support,” said Robin Gamby, the home’s

executive director. “Located in Columbia, we offer 30 residents 24/7 care, including all meals, laundry service, cleaning, medication assistance and transportation to doctor visits, all with Christian compassion - all the comforts and care that a loved one would have provided.” People can support Our Home of Hope through in-kind donations, contribution to the nonprofit’s endowment fund, giving of

An Evening to Celebrate the Ladies BY CATHY MOLITORIS

Joe Bachman and the other men involved in Evolve Life Group want to celebrate the women in their lives. They’re hosting Celebrate the Ladies on Saturday, May 9, at Faith United Methodist Church, 126 E. Market St., Hellam. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and the event will begin at 6 p.m. “We will be providing a delicious meal, including chicken cordon bleu, mixed vegetables, baked potato, salad and dessert,” Bachman shared. “At 7 p.m., we will make our way upstairs to the sanctuary where the men will be providing entertainment. The entertainment includes some musical acts from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s and also some classic commercials and television shows.” Bachman said the group had held mother-daughter banquets in the past, and he thought it was time to bring a similar event back. “It seems like in the world today we need more laughter and fun,” he remarked. “The ’60s through ’80s were just, in my opinion, the best generations where you could have wholesome fun and laughs.” He explained that the event has two purposes. “First and foremost is to celebrate ladies,” he said. “Whether you are a mother, daughter, stepdaughter, cousin, aunt or just a good friend, we want to celebrate all the ladies in our lives. We didn’t want this just to be a mother-daughter banquet because there’s so many women that do so many amazing things that aren’t a mother or a daughter to us.”
