For more than four decades, TPAC has been a place where stories come to life, audiences gather, and the performing arts create moments of connection and inspiration. This season reflects that legacy, bringing together world-class performances and shared experiences that remind us why live theatre matters. As we look ahead, we are also thinking thoughtfully about TPAC’s future. We recently shared plans for a new performance home on Nashville’s East Bank. This vision builds on our long-standing commitment to artistic excellence, community engagement, and access to the arts. While there is still much more to come, this step represents an exciting chapter in TPAC’s story and our continued dedication to serving Tennessee for generations to come. HERBERT KRETZMER, 1925 – 2020, (Lyrics) was born in South Africa to immigrant parents from Lithuania. He was a London journalist writing the commentary for a weekly cinema newsreel when Cameron Mackintosh invited him to write the lyrics for the epochal West End production of Les Misérables in 1985. Combining twin careers as a journalist/lyricist, he contributed regular lyrics for the BBC’s famous satire series “That Was the Week That Was” and had also written lyrics for the French singer Charles Aznavour (“Yesterday When I Was Young,” “She,” etc.). It was Kretzmer’s work with Aznavour as well as having seen and admired his work on the musical, Our Man Crichton, that inspired Cameron to invite him to join the team to write the English lyrics for Les Misérables. Kretzmer was the recipient of two honorary doctorates and was appointed OBE in 2010. Restrooms for Jackson Hall are located one level down from the 6th Avenue entrance, and on each level inside the theater. Restrooms for Polk Theater are located down the stairs to the left of the entrance to the orchestra level and on the tier level. Booster Seats are available on a first-come first served basis. Please inquire with an usher upon entrance to the theater. Bars and Concessions are located in the Orchestra, Tier, and Balcony level lobbies for most performances. An ATM is on G-Level, near the security desk at the Deaderick Street entrance to the building. All electronic devices including cell phones, watch alarms, cameras, and recorders should be turned off prior to the show. To inquire about Lost and Found items, please email Lost@TPAC.ORG to report an item you might have left at TPAC. Our Guest Services team seeks to respond to all patrons as quickly as possible. Please allow up to 48 hours to receive a response for all questions and concerns.
