EPF Hosts Two Successful Health & Wellness Fairs
Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Sandra Lautenschlager, EPF proudly presented two Health & Wellness Fairs for 2025, one in October and again in November. These events brought together a vibrant mix of local health and wellness service providers, creating a welcoming space for the community to explore holistic care and healthy living.
Vendors included local providers of massage therapy, health and wellness products, fresh produce, and a variety of tasty food options, offering something for everyone.
25 on a high note with our 4th Annual Fundraiser, the Holiday Jingle & , held on December 10th. This year’s fundraiser brought together 115 supporters for an evening filled with music, community, and holiday cheer.
While we made the strategic decision to eliminate both the Silent Auction and the add sales—two elements that had previously contributed significantly to fundraising—we are proud to report that the event still netted nearly $4,000. This outcome speaks volumes about the continued generosity and commitment of the EPF community.
The evening was alive with outstanding entertainment from Papa Bear Smooth, Czar Rock, and Karen Duncan, whose performances kept the energy high and the audience fully engaged. Guests also raved about the exceptional cuisine provided by the Bistro at Bahia, which added an extra layer of enjoyment to the celebration. The positive feedback continues to pour in!
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported EPF by attending and sharing in the spirit of the evening. Special appreciation goes to our dedicated organizing committee—Karen Harris, Barbara Cunningham, and Liz Smith along with our publicity guru, Tammie Philip, whose efforts were instrumental in the event’s success. Kudos as well to Odette Tuckson for creating the beautiful centerpieces that perfectly set the tone for the night.
Thank you for helping make the Holiday Jingle & Mingle another memorable and meaningful EPF tradition. We look forward to building on this momentum in 2026!
Farallón Children’s Christmas Charity Event
With support from EPF donors, we were honored to take part in the Farallón community’s Christmas charity event. This event helped make sure local children received gifts and experienced the joy of the holiday season. Thank you to all who contributed to this meaningful community effort.
Help Us Find Land for the First Fenix Community Help Us Find Land for the First Fenix Community
To build the first Fenix affordable housing community for families, EPF must first secure suitable land. This is a critical step—and one where our community’s connections can make all the difference. We believe the right land is out there—and that it will come through community connection.
We are seeking buildable land that meets the following criteria:
Minimum size: 2,000 square meters
Location: Anywhere between San Carlos and Chame
Access: Close to public transportation
Utilities: Electricity and running water available
Price range: Ideally $10–$15 per square meter (land prices have risen significantly, so we are especially grateful for good leads or below-market opportunities)
If you know of land for sale—or know someone who might—please reach out to Linda Bronson or Ruth Rivera. Even partial leads or introductions are welcome. Together, we can help turn the vision of affordable housing into a reality.
Household Item Donations
EPF accepts donations throughout the year in preparation for the annual Yard Sale. Don’t know what to do with those unwanted and unused items that are in good condition? Donate them to us and we will make sure our beaches community benefits from them.
Thank you in advance for your donations. All proceeds benefit EPF.
In Pursuit of a RUC Number
El Proyecto Fénix is taking an important final step toward fully establishing our presence in Panama: securing our official RUC number.
While EPF is already legally registered as a nonprofit corporation, the RUC (Registro Único de Contribuyentes) is what formally activates our organization within Panama’s financial and regulatory systems.
Why does this matter? A RUC number solidifies EPF’s standing as a recognized Panamanian nonprofit, opening doors that are currently closed With it, we will be able to partner more easily with local suppliers and donors, expand our fundraising efforts within Panama, and most importantly legally purchase land for the very first Fénix Community.
This milestone may sound administrative, but it is foundational. The RUC is the bridge between vision and action, allowing El Proyecto Fénix to move from planning to building safe, affordable housing for local families. We are working closely with our legal representatives to complete this final step and are deeply grateful for the continued support of our donors and volunteers as we bring this vision closer to reality

Odette Wynter-Tuckson is a native Panamanian who recently returned to her beautiful homeland. She is married to her better half, Norman, and is the proud mother of two sons, Vincent Alexander and Justin Armstrong.
A devoted member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. for over 35 years, Odette has long lived by the organization’s motto, “Service to All Mankind.” Volunteering comes naturally to her—whenever help is needed, Odette is ready to step in, sleeves rolled up, and hands at work
Shortly after returning to Panama, Odette volunteered to take responsibility for the centerpieces at EPF’s Jingle & Mingle event in December. She stepped up without hesitation and created beautiful arrangements that transformed the banquet room into a warm, festive space Her attention to detail and generous spirit made a lasting impression.
EPF is grateful not only for Odette’s creativity, but also for her enthusiasm and willingness to support our mission beyond a single event. With her heart for service and interest in contributing to future projects—particularly in the training area—we look forward to working with her in the years ahead.
Thank you, Odette. We truly appreciate you and all that you bring to El Proyecto Fénix.
