ABOUT THE ROLE
Staff County Attorney Assistant County Attorney Office of the County Attorney | Department of Human Services (DHS) This role focuses on protecting children, supporting families, and safeguarding at-risk adults through high-impact legal work in juvenile, probate, and related courts. Attorneys in this position serve as trusted legal advisors to DHS staff, guiding casework from intake through litigation, and representing the County before courts and administrative bodies. The role offers meaningful courtroom experience, complex legal challenges, and the opportunity to impact the community's well-being directly. This role is part of a defined Human Services attorney career progression series, offering professional growth and advancement opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilites Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school Admission to the Colorado Bar (or eligibility to practice under C.R.C.P. 205.6 within one year of hire) For Assistant County Attorney level: Minimum of three years as a practicing attorney, including at least two years of juvenile law experience Strong knowledge of the Colorado Children’s Code, Probate Code, Social Services Code, and applicable civil, juvenile, probate, and appellate procedures Excellent legal research, writing, and courtroom advocacy skills Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and handle complex legal matters Valid Colorado driver’s license

Attorneys may advance within the series upon meeting established criteria and receiving a recommendation from the Hiring Authority. COMPENSATION
Staff County Attorney Hiring Range: $87,000 - $94,000* Assistant County Attorney Hiring Range: $104,000 - $112,000* *Salary is to be commensurate with qualifications
