ABOUT THE ROLE

Executive Director - Public Works

The Executive Director is responsible for the management, administration, planning, and leadership of the Department of Public Works (DPW). Directs all Divisions of DPW, including Highway, Fleet, Engineering, Resource Management, Customer Service, and Training and Safety.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilites

Extensive knowledge of obtaining Federal Grants related to Public Improvements and coordination with Local, State, and Federal agencies.

Extensive knowledge of research methods and techniques utilized to assemble, organize, and present statistical, financial, or factual information derived from a variety of sources.

Demonstrated knowledge of public works, including construction, maintenance programs, fleet services, resource management, and customer service.

Thorough knowledge of modern business methods, procedures, and trends, service area growth, and resource planning.

Thorough knowledge of the laws, regulations, and other requirements governing public jurisdictions.

Skilled in cultural change management principles.

Skill in recognizing, investigating, and analyzing a variety of financial, operational, and administrative problems, developing alternatives and appropriate solutions.

Ability to direct, organize, and coordinate the activities of others.

Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to maintain effective working relationships with Elected Officials, County Administration, County Department Directors, community stakeholders, and the public.
