Regional Semi-Final Game Marks the End of Lady Roadrunners’ Season

The Rio Hondo Lady Roadrunners soccer team faced off in an intense match against Santiago Canyon College Tuesday, November 21 in the SoCal regional semi-finals. Both teams battled tirelessly, and with frustration as they tried to score to get ahead of one another at Rio Hondo College. As soon as the first half of the game got underway, Santiago Canyon pressured down Rio Hondo’s defense, keeping the ball on the other half of the field in Rio Hondo territory. Rio Hondo’s defense was being careful, keeping a steady mind, so no foul would be committed inside the penalty zone, or anywhere near the goal to prevent Santiago Canyon to score. The Lady Roadrunners had great opportunities during the first half of the game with team captain Madison Mader leading the team. She had good opportunities to score goals, but Santiago Canyon keeper Siera Pedroza was great at guarding her net. came up short. A minute into the second half of the game, Santiago Canyon’s April Gonzalez scored a goal with an assist by Cassie Soto, giving them the 1-0 lead. Rio Hondo tried to respond quickly after, hoping for a tie, but stopped rushing their play as time went on. During the middle of the match, Rio Hondo began suffering injuries. Marissa Morales was taken out of the game, and she was not the only one. Shortly after, another Lady Roadrunner left them game because of an injury. The Lady Roadrunners failed to score against Santiago Canyon, resulting in the end of Rio Hondo’s season. The Lady Roadrunners finish the season with an overall record of 15-4-2. Rio Hondo team captain Madison Mader thought there could have been improvements throughout the game. “My team, I feel like, put it all on the field, but we didn’t get the results we wanted” said Mader. It was disappointing that the Lady Roadrunners didn’t make the final, but that will not stop them from coming back strong next season.

Pixar Founder John Lasseter Takes Sabbatical After Unspecified “Missteps” DIANA JUAREZ Staff Writer

Pixar’s founder and chief creative officer, John Lasseter, takes a six month sabbatical after allegations of inappropriate behavior against Pixar staffers. For the past 20 years female employees have been warned about Lasseter’s behavior. While Lasseter is known as a hugger across the
company, young women specifically felt uncomfortable with the level of attention Lasseter showered them with. “I especially want to apologize to anyone who has ever been on the receiving end of an unwanted hug or any other gesture they felt crossed the line in any way, shape or form,” wrote Lasseter in an email he sent to Pixar workers, “No matter how benign my intent, everyone has the right to set their own
boundaries and have them respected.” Disney also released a statement saying “We are committed to maintaining an environment in which all employees are respected and empowered to do their best work. We appreciate John’s candor and sincere apology and fully support his sabbatical.” Many of Pixar’s former employees that spoke to Variety said they felt powerless

Massage Envy is one of the largest spa franchises in the nation with hundreds of allegations due to sexual misconduct. According to Buzzfeed News investigation, over a thousand chains open around the nation with at least 180 people filing sexual assault civil suits, police reports or complaints to state boards against Massage Envy. Dozens of women have come forward since these allegations, reporting massage therapists groped their genitals, groped their breasts, or committed other explicit violations. Many women called to complain, but their allegations weren’t credible due to them not going back to the store for them to discuss the situation. When they asked the clinic manager why the allegations weren’t credible, they stated, “I was following the policy of Massage Envy and therefore I thought it was appropriate.” Susan Ingram is one of the many women sexually assaulted during her spa
session with James Deiter, who is massage therapist at Massage Envy. After her session she called the clinic manager, only to be told that they could not interrupt the session he is having with the next client. Ingram told Buzzfeed News she decided to take this up with the police, who then interviewed Dieter later that day. Dieter quickly pleaded guilty to not only assaulting Ingram, but nine other women while working at Massage E envy. Massage Envy also does not require any of its locations to take steps to prevent or investigate sexual assault, unless it is required by law in the state. Even is a client calls to report a rape, they are not required to call law enforcement. The company swept most of the accusations under the rug by accusing the franchise owners instead, stating that the company should not be liable for these allegations. The trial for this case begins January. May of the women who filed lawsuits hope this sheds more light into the situation.

While there has been no talk about replacing Lasseter, there also hasn’t been talks about who will take his place even if temporarily so.

“That doesn’t change anything. Its his personal issue and it’s not against his movies. It’s like there’s the company and his personal life. They don’t combine, so his movies don’t change at all.”
“Well it doesn’t change how I view the movies he has out now, but as a person, yeah. I wouldn’t be okay with him coming coming back knowing what he did though. I think if he did that’s when I would correlate him with his movies.”
I mean if there is those allegations towards him then there should be some kind of penalty. But, it doesn’t change my opinion on his movies. I think everything should be aside from his films. He’s just doing his job,and those allegations could be unrelated to work.
