Cover Story Back to work: J.D., Turk and the gang don ‘Scrubs’ once more By Dana Simpson Paging all “Scrubs” fans! Nearly 16 full years after exiting the automatic doors of Sacred Heart Hospital, J.D. (Zach Braff, “Garden State,” 2004), Turk (Donald Faison, “Clueless,” 1995) and Elliot (Sarah Chalke, “Firefly Lane”) are scrubbing back in for a 10th season of mischief and medicine at the California hospital. Don’t miss the all-new iteration of Bill Lawrence’s (“Clone High”) early-aughts medical sitcom “Scrubs,” premiering Wednesday, Feb. 25, on ABC. New episodes air weekly and release each following day on Hulu. The winner of two Primetime Emmys during its original run from 2001 to 2010, “Scrubs” is a half-hour comedy following the personal and professional lives of three frontline workers — and their co-workers — at a fictional California hospital. Replete with witty sarcasm, absurdist humor and close-knit friendships in the workplace, “Scrubs” was praised for its ability to confront serious issues
through surrealism and goofy comedy, all without belittling the characters’ problems or losing sight of the plot. “Scrubs” was also touted for its relatability. Unlike many television series that up the stakes for increased drama, in its early days, “Scrubs” always managed to feel grounded despite its wacky sense of humor. On their way to becoming doctors, medical interns J.D., Elliot and Turk found comfort in their romances and bromances, even during their most difficult days and when faced with the very real physical and emotional hazards of a job in medicine. While the Sacred Heart trio is no longer comprised of interns, J.D., Turk and Elliot are all confirmed as returning for the series reboot — this time as full-fledged doctors (per the later seasons of “Scrubs’” original run). Turk’s love interest and Elliot’s best friend, nurse Carla, played by Judy Reyes (“High Potential”), is also returning, albeit in a recurring guest capacity. “J.D. and Turk scrub in together for the first time in a long
In Focus “American Classic” - Season 1 (MGM+/Prime Video — March 1, Series Premiere) This MGM+ series tells the story of Broadway star Richard Bean (Kevin Kline) who suffers a public meltdown and returns home to the family theater where he first became aware of his own brilliance. Once there, he decides to direct and star in a production of an American classic.
time: medicine has changed; interns have changed; but their bromance has stood the test of time,” reads the official logline for the new episodes, as provided by series producers. “Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart and some surprises along the way.” “A lot of the story still holds up,” Faison told People during an interview for the magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive 2025 issue. “You’re still following your favorite doctors — your heroes, to some people. Regardless of what’s happened from Season 1 through 9, the core story is still there and people really want to see that.” In the same interview, Braff noted that although the show’s heart — and some of the original writing team — remain the same, the decision to bring in a “young, very diverse group of writers” for the reboot means the “Scrubs” reboot has the opportunity to launch itself full throttle into a whole new generation of fandom. According to entertainment site TomsGuide.com, the
“Scrubs” “reboot is being described as a ‘continuation’ rather than a total reset, picking up years after the original’s finale and revisiting Sacred Heart with some familiar faces as well as plenty of new interns.” Joining the cast for Season 10 are a slew of new Sacred Heart interns, including Serena (Ava Bunn, “A Man on the Inside”), Asher (Jacob Dudman, “Fate: The Winx Saga”), Blake (David Gridley, “All American”), Amara (Layla Mohammadi, “The Persian Version,” 2023) and Dashana (Amanda Morrow, “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”). Additionally, a couple familiar faces from outside the original “Scrubs” seasons have joined the cast. American actress and comedian Vanessa Bayer (“I Love That for You”) joins the series as Sacred Heart Wellness Program co-ordinator Sibby Wilson, while Joel Kim Booster of “KPop Demon Hunters” (2025) fame also joins the cast of the new “Scrubs.” Reportedly, Booster will portray a fellow medical professional named Dr. Park.
