A Miraculous Story and Update

Back in December, we shared a story about baby Noel who was abandoned late last year at Tenwek Hospital. We are excited to share that Baby Noel has made significant progress thanks to the support of many compassionate individuals.

She has recently been transferred to the AGC Baby Center in Nakuru, a wonderful home run by AGC and

supported by a church in Indiana. The center provides a safe and loving environment for children in need, and we are thrilled to see Noel thriving there.

Noel is doing well and continues to receive excellent care at the Baby Center. The team is actively working to locate her family and will keep us updated on any progress in reconnecting her with relatives.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Noel in her journey. Your prayers and kindness have made a world of difference in her life. Please pray that a loving home will be found for Baby Noel.

Heart Failure averted Through RHD Screening at Tenwek Hospital

Sheila*, a 17-year-old orphan from Chebole, Bomet County, had long struggled with undiagnosed health issues, including malnutrition, swelling limbs, and extreme fatigue She was in desperate need of answers

However, on March 13, during a Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) screening routine, a local healthcare worker pleaded for them to allow village members to join the screening, a moment of divine intervention.

Dr Girgis performed an echocardiogram and diagnosed Sheila with Stage C RHD she was on the brink of heart failure Immediate treatment was initiated, and thanks to early intervention, Sheila is now on life-saving prophylactic antibiotics.

The RHD screening program at Tenwek Hospital is saving lives, thanks to your support. Early detection of RHD can not only avoid the necessity for surgery, but also save lives. In addition to community screenings, this program also educates families, schools, teachers and the community on prevention methods

The anesthesia machines at Tenwek Hospital are over 30 years old and lack several critical features, to perform safe surgery under general anesthesia. This leaves patients, especially children, at increased risk of serious complications during surgery.

Without updated machines, the likelihood of adverse reactions or even life-threatening events under anesthesia rises significantly The surgical and anesthesia teams have identified 6 machines for purchase that will enhance safety for every patient undergoing general anesthesia The cost for these six machines is $100,000.

Every day, countless patients rely on anesthesia at Tenwek Hospital. Please prayerfully consider helping raise funds for this vital equipment, ensuring that Tenwek can continue its mission of providing compassionate care, spiritual ministry, and training in Christ’s name

You Reduced His Medical Bills And Saved His Life

Last year we helped treat a patient named Aaron with severe heart disease However, when he was released, he was burdened by a medical bill of about $20,685 But because of generous donors like you, we were able to help cover his medical expenses, which came to about $13,500, after the SHA deductions Thanks to you Aaron has improved significantly and expects to return to work in May with no medical expenses

Note From Russ

Dear Friend,

I hope you are encouraged by all the stories of impact you ’ ve read in this newsletter. Thanks to you we are treating and saving lives at Tenwek Hospital and the surrounding community.

Stories like Sheila, Noel, Aaron and Kimolwet, are just a few examples of transformation happening everyday at Tenwek, thanks to donors like you

In this newsletter, you read about Sheila, a young girl who received a life saving diagnosis and medicine thanks to a local RHD community screening initiative

But did you know there are thousands of potential patients like Shelia?

Shelia's story is an example of the seriousness of this preventable disease. Tenwek’s RHD Program not only screens patients for this disease, but also helps prevent this disease by providing education on diagnosis and prevention to families, village leaders, schools, and healthcare workers, helping to eliminate a disease that is currently so prevalent in Kenya.

This year, we aim to screen and educate 12,000 children, but we need to raise $100,000. This financial goal will cover operating expenses like screenings, the educational materials, transportation, and antibiotics, as well as help us purchase and retrofit an ambulance to improve our outreach

Will you consider making a donation to help us treat more children in 2025? Your generosity allows us to continue this life-saving work, sharing both the care and love of Christ with those in need.

Thank you for your continued support and belief in the work we do Together, we are making a real difference.
