Welcome to our third Pro Landscaper Sustainability and Biodiversity Awards, where we celebrate and recognise the leadership role that our sector is playing in meeting climate goals that will deliver a more sustainable future for our planet. The weather we have experienced in 2025 has been a reminder of the need to tackle climate change and nearly every conversation we have will inevitably include references to climate resilience, biodiversity net gain and water scarcity. Landscape is a key enabler and solution, presenting a huge opportunity to showcase the value and key role it will have in helping to deliver a sustainable future. These awards focus specifically on this, and we are delighted and proud of how they have grown, laying testament to the great work that is already being done, evidenced through the quality of the submissions we receive. This year, alongside our company, project, product, people and contract categories, we have also introduced a category for local authorities and councils to reflect the important role they play. In total, over 40 companies and projects have been shortlisted across 12 categories. What’s exciting to see and hear from our judges’ feedback is that the calibre and quality of submissions have taken another major step forward with the level of ambition being shown and results being delivered. A massive well done to all those who have made the shortlist – it’s a fantasitc achievement! COMMERCIAL BUILD PROJECT In partnership with
WINNER BRADFORD CITY CENTRE | GAVIN JONES LTD Founded in 1919, Gavin Jones – a Nurture Group company – is one of the UK’s most established and respected commercial landscape contractors. With over a century of heritage, the company delivers award-winning landscape construction services to clients across a wide range of sectors. Its Bradford City Centre transformation replaced 1.6km of traffic-dominated infrastructure with over three hectares of vibrant, biodiverse parkland, delivering a 24% biodiversity net gain and boosting footfall by 25%. Delivered in a live urban environment, Gavin Jones introduced 198 climate-resilient trees, 25,000 herbaceous plants, 3,100m² of wildflower turf, and innovative SuDS features to manage stormwater naturally. Working in partnership with Bradford Council, it prioritised biodiversity, climate resilience, and community value from day one. The result is a flagship example of climate-resilient, people-first placemaking that improves air quality and sets a new benchmark for sustainable urban regeneration in the UK. It is an “outstanding project contributing to greening up Bradford,” said judges. They praised the “high-quality delivery of an increasingly well-known site with a lasting legacy demonstrating strong industry leadership.”

WINNER PRIORS HALL PARK VILLAGE GREEN | URBAN&CIVIC Priors Hall Park’s Village Green, delivered by Urban&Civic, transforms a simple parkland into a vibrant community asset where people and nature thrive together. Designed with sustainability, biodiversity, and accessibility at its heart, the space uses UK- and EU-grown timber, innovative carbon-positive surfacing, and strategic planting to provide shade, play value, and wildlife habitats. As the first major amenity in Priors Hall Park’s Zone 2, the Village Green has become the heart of the community. Intergenerational play equipment, shaded seating, and biodiverse planting have encouraged consistent use by all age groups. The Village Green also delivers a biodiversity net gain of over 10%, alongside the use of carbon-positive Corkeen surfacing – removing more CO₂ in its production than it emits. More than a green space, it is a place that fosters social connection, supports sales for local homes, and showcases industry-leading design standards – a model of how commercial projects can deliver long-lasting environmental and community benefits.

Its 12 office buildings surround a central garden with a two-tier lake, waterfall, boardwalk, and event spaces, creating a vibrant, green environment. Despite its urban location, the Park is a standout example of ESG success. Over the past 15 years, Nurture has introduced a range of biodiversity initiatives focused on environmental protection and education and plays an active role in delivering sustainable, day-to-day operations as part of a long-standing, impactful partnership. All green waste generated on-site is composted and reused; for instance, avoiding landfill entirely. The wormery, wildlife initiatives and planting masterplan reflect Nurture’s commitment to long-term returns, not only in terms of ecological health but also in social and business value. HARRY HOLDING STUDIO Harry Holding Studio creates enchanting, sustainable spaces that integrate bold design with ecological planting. Its low-input, long-lasting gardens blend contemporary design with nature to enhance human and environmental wellbeing. It focuses on innovative planting, sustainable materials, and low-maintenance systems while extending its approach to wider landscape management through connecting its designs to local ecologies and building resilient ecosystems. Its 2023 ‘School Food Matters Garden’ at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show won the People’s Choice Award and was later transformed into two thriving school gardens in London and Liverpool, now enjoyed by hundreds of families. Building on this success, the RHS invited the studio the following year to design its Feature Garden, ‘RHS No Adults Allowed’, celebrating children’s right to nature. By considering future climate change and blending innovation with experimental and established renewable practices, the studio ensures its spaces remain sustainable for generations. WINNER LUCY FISHER | I DVERDE Lucy Fisher is “a great leader with vision and passion,” said judges. She is operations director at i dverde UK, which is responsible for delivering some of the country’s most high-profile landscapes, including The Royal Parks, Sky Garden, Met Police, and the Houses of Parliament. Her role demands a balance between commercial performance and environmental responsibility, managing multiple P&Ls in a private equity-backed business. What makes her approach distinctive is bringing commercial credibility and practical sustainability together – ensuring strategies are not only ambitious but also workable on the ground. She advocates for meaningful policy and regulatory change so that biodiversity installations and green infrastructure deliver long-term ecological value, rather than token compliance. With credibility from both commercial and sustainability perspectives, Fisher champion solutions that genuinely address the biodiversity crisis. Under her leadership, the i dverde team achieved a 39% recycling rate for its area of responsibility at the 2025 London Marathon, for instance. Every team member played their part by actively separating waste at source. Of the 8.98t of waste collected in St James’s Park, 3.50t was successfully recycled. Judges praised Fisher’s “real drive, leadership and a systemic approach to deliver change across the organisation.”
