It is also sung around the world by supporters at football matches. The tradition developed in Liverpool after the chart success of the 1963 single by the local Liverpool group, Gerry and the Pacemakers. In some places it became the anthem of support for medical staff, first responders, and those in quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As we enter the Advent season it is, for us, a reminder that we really don’t walk alone. Jesus’ promise to us is that he will be with us to the end of the age, until he comes again, when we will be forever with the Lord. For some folk this is a time of the year filled with dread and loneliness, but be of good courage, even in the darkest days “you’ll never walk alone” as Jesus has promised to walk with us. May you be blessed as you reflect on the one whose birth we celebrate at this time; who offers us hope, and peace, and joy. Elizabeth Hanna

Saint Bronach’s will be given a green spotlight on 21st December along with scores of other buildings. The idea came from Conor Tinnelly. Conor along with Damian Goodman, Gerry Sloan, Tom O’Hare and Jarlath Tinnelly are the volunteers who year after year build the magnificent Christmas lighting display in Rostrevor Square.
