Visitor be blessed here. The imposing building which you enter is a work of art and a work of faith. Are our ancestors artists? Yes, and moreover, these ancient stones sing their prayers across the ages. Once across the threshold, respect the silence. Listen, look, and if you are a believer, be immersed in the presence of God, the God who dwells in this beautiful residence. Let this cathedral be and remain a house of prayer and of peace. Thank you. Have a pleasant stay in Mirepoix. The Christian Community.
This work of calligraphy hangs in the Cathedral Church of Saint Maurice in Mirepoix and is from Susan’s article on pages 20 and 21 of this Pointer. When you visit our churches to look around, or to join us in worship, we pray that you will be blessed. All three of our buildings reflect the work and prayers of generations. They are works of art and faith. I love the line, “be immersed in the presence of God.” Do join us for worship together if you are able. We meet in Warrenpoint at ten o’clock on the first and third Sundays, in Clonallon, also at ten o’clock, on the second and fourth Sundays, and in Kilbroney, Rostrevor, each Sunday at 11.30 am. If there’s a fifth Sunday then we all gather in one of the buildings.
November is a month when we often think of those generations of folk who created these beautiful buildings, and we remember those who have already gone into the presence of our Lord. As the bidding prayer at Nine Lessons says, “Lastly, let us remember before God all those who rejoice with us, but upon another shore, and in a greater light, that multitude which no person can number, whose hope was in the Word made flesh, and with whom in the Lord Jesus we forevermore are one.”
