The Magazine of the Church of Ireland Parishes of Clonallon & Warrenpoint with Kilbroney in the Diocese of Down and Dromore area home much longer that Karen, Liam and myself. The words of the Psalm at the beginning often come flooding to mind and I take great comfort from the visual prompt that jogged my mind to think upon the Palmist words.
I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Psalm 121: 1&2 Karen and I often find ourselves commenting on the beauty of the area in which we now live.
Whether it is leaving the house to get into the car or driving from Warrenpoint to Rostrevor or Rostrevor to Warrenpoint or on the upper Clonallon Road we only have to look and we see mountains. The beauty and the permanence of the mountains. The seasons bring us different pictures of the mountains with the snow, then the clouds, the rain, the sunshine. Absolutely stunning! I am sure many of you can relate to what I am saying and many of you have been blessed to call this
I have been speaking of the beauty of the environment in which we live but we are living in a different kind of environment at the moment as well. Many of us, perhaps all of us, have found ourselves a little down over what seems to be a very long time of restriction and uncertainty. We have had many up and downs over these last few months and most are longing for the day when we can have greater interaction with friends and those we love dearly. In moments like these I find myself just looking at the beauty before me, see the mountains on both sides of the lough and my mind fills with the reminder that my help comes from the Lord the maker of heaven and earth. I will leave this thought with you and he will sustain us.
