Trouble at Methodist Hospital, What ? Just READ! By: Darryl Blair The Methodist Health care system was birthed in Oak Cliff around 1908-1927 by the Methodist Church, by some visionary clergy, and parrisioners. The first Methodist Hospital was Built and fashioned in the North Oak Cliff area, and later cast the Charlton Methodist hospital in 1975 on the grand strip of Wheatland Rd, in southwest Dallas. Methodist is a grand, and apt entity with a vast array of Medical services provided to all of Dallas and more directly Soutwest Dallas County. Methodist Healthcare embarked on the Medical needs field, Hospital care provider, and the field of medicine at large, it’s apparent that Methodist exhibits staying power, and has consistantly delivered to the Southern sector of Dallas county for which it was designed, and yet it still suffers from poor Image and connectivity based on relationships, in both Public relations, and Community relations, these (2) elements are essential to the life blood of any business, especially in Medical provisions industry. It is of great wonder how the Likes of Baylor, who was created in the east of Dallas, and Parkland situated in the North Central of parts of Dallas would be able to have such close, and deep inroads, with a growing presence in the heart of Methodist territory, to the point of building satillite locations for spot, and Day medicine, all the while, Not being the least bit intimidated, or challenged by the prowess of the Methodist Healthcare stable… for the better parts of Methodist’s ability to deliver, Here is the Methodist roll call to the credit Of Methodist Healthcare: Good Medicine ? Got’em, Good Nurses ? Got’em, Good Doctors ? Got’em, Cutting edge Specialist ? Got’em, State of the Art Facilities ? Got’em, Pre-natal care ?, Got’em, Great Community in-roads ? NOT !!!! and why is that ? It appears that Methodist suffers from poor presentation, and Inability to exhibit it’s great attributes, and that failure comes in the way of POOR AND PAULTRY, Public and Community Relations, and Relationships !. Methodist Hospital Health Systems was founded on the principles of Life, Learning, and Compassion. Methodist Health care, can and, have provided the very best of essential emergency Medical needs of medicine, to over 175,000 patients a year, Did you Know that Methodist Hospital Charlton Has Neo-Natal emergency room all it’s own and one of the Most comprehensive Cardiovascular Units, as well as extinsive Rehabilatation facility, separate from the Hospital and they are
ranked with the best, Did you Know that Methodist Charlton, and Methodist Central has one of the Lowest / shortest wait times for Emergency room anywhere in Dallas ? YES !. Do you find yourself reading this article about a diamond in your midst, and yet you have not been informed ?. Methodist encompass all the great components of providing cutting edge medicine, and stellar medical care, But you will never know because the lack of community relations, and that is directly pointed to the Communications Outreach Spcialist, Cynthia Postell Mickens-Ross, who has shrouded Methodist in mystery and wonderment, this department has failed Methodist in a crippling manner, by only relating to those of (her) friendship, and NOT one of productivity! This comes by doing only business with Individuals, and Entity’s (the social circuit, and Girlfriends clubs) that look the other way when seeking medical services, and
own personal Ministry at the Expense of Methodist Health, It is even a greater Insult to this community, and those who could be of great benefit from Methodist, and benefit To Methodist fall victim to lack of Relationship and Inclusion, as you seek to FULFILL YOUR GATEKEEPING MENTALITY (In the Opinion of Elite News). It’s Incumbent upon Methodist to properly asses, and dutifully address, the Communications, and Public Relations aspects (Individuals) of drive past Methodist in all of Oak Cliff, your mission, because you are being to seek Boutique medicine elsewhere, Failed, and greatly misrepresented, in as a Community Outreach Specialist every way Imaginable. FAIR PARK WELCOMES 20 INTERNS TO INAUGURAL FAIR PARK INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
FAIR PARK FIRST AND SPECTRA WILL AWARD $20,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS AT THE PROGRAM’S CONCLUSION DALLAS (June 18, 2019) – Fair Park First and Spectra, managers of Fair Park, recently welcomed 20 high school students from James Madison High School and Lincoln High School to the inaugural Fair Park Internship Program. The annual program will run until August 1, 2019. “One of the pillars of Fair Park First is community involvement. This program will be the cornerstone of that pillar. We’re excited to see what this can become,” said Darren L. James, President of Fair Park First. The eight-week program will involve hands-on training within multiple departments at Fair Park and its resident institutions, including marketing, event planning, operations, sales, corporate partnerships, and guest services. Fair Park First and Spectra will also provide weekly workshops, such as workplace readiness, college preparedness, and resume writing, that will provide useful skills beyond the classroom. Other components of the program include daily lunch provided by local South Dallas caterers and field trips to local entertainment venues, including AT&T Stadium, the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center and the American Airlines Center.
“Out of all the things that I believe Spectra and Fair Park First have to offer in the new management agreement with Fair Park, promoting community engagement and giving back to the surrounding community are some of the most important. I see that being put into
motion with this program, and I’m very excited and proud to partner with them. What they are doing with the youth is invaluable,” said District 7 City Council Member, Adam Bazaldua. Upon completion of the program, each student will receive a $1,000 scholarship to put towards a four-year or two-year college, or a trade school. “By providing these game-changing opportunities to students of both Lincoln
and Madison each summer, Fair Park First and Spectra are signaling a new era at Fair Park and South Dallas,” said Marian Willard, Principal of James Madison High School. “Through these internships, Fair Park First and Spectra are demonstrating their commitment to being a great neighbor and community partner to the South Dallas community,” said Johnna Weaver, Principal of Lincoln High School. Students went through a rigorous selection process led by Dallas Independent School District (DISD) representatives, which required them to create a resume and write why they wanted to be a part of the program. Ten students from each school were selected. Fair Park First and Spectra will look to expand the annual summer program to other DISD schools in the Fair Park area in the future. “When we partnered with Fair Park First, we created goals to provide opportunities to the local community. Our internship program is one of these goals, and we look forward to providing a valuable learning experience,” said Peter Sullivan, General Manager of Fair Park.

Ron Price has been elected Board Secretary of the Board of Regents, and Chairman of Academic Affairs/ Research/ Student life Committee for Ron Price Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. Ron was appointed to the Board of Regents by Texas Governor Greg Abbott on January 19, 2019; he was confirmed by the Texas State Senate on April 11, 2019, and was elected Board Secretary 21 days later.
