July 26, 2019 – State Fair of Texas concessionaires are officially off to the races with a new lineup of incredible, edible innovations for the public to taste. Harrison Blair Keeps Family Legacy of Community Advocacy Alive as the New President of Dallas Black Chamber

It’s no surprise that an influx of support letters accompanied Harrison Blair’s application for president of the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce. Senator
Royce West and former chamber chair and president Charles O’Neal were among the many who described Harrison’s deep knowledge and desire to inspire impactful change within the Black community. Harrison’s passion and skill set will allow for a seamless transition as he leads the chamber and promotes educational efforts through the chamber’s Center for Excellence. In his district manager roles at BenefitMall and ADP he helped hundreds of small and mid-sized businesses achieve their revenue goals through business development, payroll, and HR solutions. The grandson of the late Dr. William Blair Jr., a Negro League baseball player and newspaper founder, and son of Jordan Blair Sr., former editor of the Elite News, Harrison’s family has a rich legacy of community engagement in Dallas. Actively involved in the chamber since 2017, Harrison launched the inaugural “Ignite The Lights” event at William Blair Jr. Park earlier this year. The legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. was commemorated through the release of illuminated lanterns. “As we celebrate our 93rd year of continuous operation as the oldest Black Chamber in the country
I’m excited to announce Harrison Blair as our president. We were seeking fresh ideas, new approaches, creative energy and innovation, and Harrison brings just that,” said board chair Darren L. James. “His perspective is grounded in experience working with civic and elected leaders, as well as private sector industry leaders who support African American business growth and competitiveness.” Harrison brings a wealth of local knowledge to his new position. When serving the constituents of the 30th congressional district as director of outreach for Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, he formed stakeholder relationships advancing outreach and fundraising. Harrison enhanced his community connections through his involvement in the Mayor’s Star Council and currently serves on the Dallas Park & Recreation Board in District 4.
“I’m excited to continue my family’s legacy of serving the Dallas community,” said Harrison. “I believe my experience forming relationships with business owners, philanthropists, community leaders and elected officials will help propel the Chamber’s mission forward.” The chamber invites its members, partners and the business community to meet Harrison at the Executive Business Summit the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 20. The event will feature a conversation with the founder of BackStage Capital, Arlan Hamilton, and offer information related to emerging technology and ways to increase Black wealth. In introducing speakers, she proclaimed that “Royce is my choice!” In heartfelt remarks, retired educator Shirley Fisher and Ambassador Ron Kirk expressed their support, followed by an introduction from U.S. Congresswoman and mentor Eddie Bernice Johnson. public education, gun control, climate control, and immigrant rights/reform. Ms. Fisher said she always knew that Mr. West would accomplish greatness. She said that he was sincere, full of determination and an excellent student and athlete in high school.
