Millions of people around the world celebrate World Earth Day on 22nd April with the aim of doing things to protect the environment. From the first Earth Day in 1970, this day is a way to highlight the importance of green issues like global warming and renewable energy. Climate change and man-made changes are the reason why many animal species and forests are disappearing.
Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs, but not every man’s greed.’
We all need to change our habits and lifestyles. There are lots of little things we can do every day, for example: • buy fewer clothes and plastic • buy fewer single-use things • recycle more • buy only things we really need The World Earth Day also encourages people to do something for their local environment, like plant a tree or clean up a park. Now more than 190 countries around the world take part in events on 22nd April. So what can you do to help?
Mahatma Gandhi lawyer and philosopher (1869-1948)
