Wiebe Wakker has a great passion for travel and ecology. His dream was to do something extraordinary, and that’s how he came to set the record for the world’s longest electric car journey! He left Amsterdam, where he lives, on 15 March 2016, and arrived in Australia, in Sydney, on 7 April 2019. In 1,119 days, he passed through 33 countries and traveled 95,000 km without ever stopping … to fill up!

Alice Merton a ‘rootless’ singer Her life
Alice Merton became famous with the song No Roots. The title of this song perfectly represents Alice and her ‘rootless’ life as a citizen of the world. Alice was born in Germany, in Frankfurt, on 13 September 1993 to a German mother and an Irish father. She has lived in many different countries: the United States, Canada, England and France. In 2013 she returned to Germany, and there she began studying music at the Popakademie in Baden-Württemberg.

It wasn’t easy for her to release the song No Roots! Alice’s style, in fact, is very personal and particular: she writes her own songs, and her music has “hard” sounds. So Alice made a decision to create her own record company, Paper Plane Records. Within a few months No Roots reached the top of the world music charts, winning gold and platinum records, and was used in some very famous advertisements.
This year Alice Merton released her first album, Mint. Mint plays an important role in the life of the artist. Space food! What do astronauts eat? Mathematically formulated salads? Pills?
No! Astronauts on a space mission eat just like us! But their food is dehydrated, that is, without water inside. A complete meal is sealed in a 250 gram pack ready to cook, like the packets in the picture! Specialised companies prepare food for astronauts, in collaboration with famous chefs. They also prepare food according to the personal tastes of the astronauts: every astronaut has their favourite foods!

• The specialised company that produces the meals studies each food for 6-8 months. • In space the human body ages faster: this is why astronauts have to eat a lot of fruit, vegetables and fish. • No crumbs! Crumbs are dangerous for the spaceship: they can damage computers or other things. • There are packets of individual foods, such as rice or vegetables, that astronauts can mix together. • The taste of food changes in space, because space changes the way we smell things.

Me and my hobby Hi everyone, my name is Giulio. I live in Italy, in Florence, and I’m a muggle quidditch player! This is the game that Harry Potter and the students of Hogwarts play on flying brooms. Our brooms are not magical, but my friends and I are! Our coach says that there are three secrets to playing quidditch well: passion, intelligence and commitment. Yes, training is tiring, but I love this sport!

Cardiff
Cardiff is the compact, friendly capital of Wales. There are loads of fun things to do in Cardiff. This old city has museums, parks, music venues, and restaurants to explore. There’s also a castle in the city centre! Let’s discover more...
Don’t miss Cardiff Castle.
This great stone fortress has watched over Cardiff since the eleventh century. Buy a ticket to explore the castle’s impressive grounds, interactive exhibits, the Battlement Walk, a Norman keep and bomb shelters used in World War II. Pay a little extra for a House Tour, which will give you access to the beautiful rooftop garden, and to some private rooms.
Next on your tour is Cardiff Bay.
This is Europe’s largest waterfront development. From the water you can get a good look at Cardiff’s most famous buildings, like Pierhead and the Norwegian Church, as well as the old docks and Wetlands Nature Reserve. Guided boat tours run regularly from Mermaid Quay and Penarth Barrage and last around 45 minutes.

Make sure you make a stop at the Cardiff International White Water centre. The center has all kinds of sports and offers the only white water rafting course in South Wales. Hop in a canoe here or try their indoor wave machine, which is perfect for surfing lessons!
