Heli-Skiing
Thanks to the Troll Peninsula’s maritime snowpack and the most snowfall in Iceland, heli-skiing in this part of the world means fewer down days and more reliable snowpack. You’ll fly in an A-Star B3 helicopter from two landing pads right on the property to ski 3,000-foot lines that descend from the summit to the Arctic Ocean. Vast and diverse terrain spanning some 200,000 skiable acres make this experience suitable for intermediate to expert skiers and snowboarders.
Ski Touring
Ski tour straight from Deplar’s front door, carving fresh tracks through untouched valleys. Combine your ascent with a stop at one of our remote outposts—The Ghost Farm or Lake House—for a meal in the mountains, or elevate the day with a heli drop to a secluded peak. Whether you’re linking glades or tackling steeper terrain, every climb rewards you with long fluid turns.
Snowmobiling
Fire up the engines for an adrenaline-pumping journey across snowy tundras. On our expertly-guided snowmobile adventures, you’ll cross frozen lakes, zoom through meadows, and stop into our outpost cabin for a steaming cup of cocoa or a warm lunch.
Cross-Country Skiing
Get outfitted with classic cross-country skis from our in-house gear closet, and glide along the trails around Deplar Farm through the snowy valleys of the Troll Peninsula.
Snowshoeing
Go on a picturesque snowshoe journey around the Fljót Valley that surrounds Deplar Farm, once a 15th century sheep farm. This area is known for its plentiful snowfall, so you’ll trek through fresh snow as you take in the sights.
Sledding
Get back to the days of old-fashioned winter fun with our wide selection of sleds. Fly down snow-covered hills on tubes, saucers, and steerable Stiga Snowracer sleds, then be treated to a snowmobile shuttle back to the top.
Fat Biking
Traverse Iceland’s frozen landscapes on fat tire snow bikes, designed to traverse snowy terrain. This unique guided biking experience offers a fun and challenging workout, perfect for winter adventure seekers.
Surfing
There’s no such thing as too cold around here. With our super thick wetsuits, you can surf Iceland’s best right-handers and occasional left breaks. Keep an eye out for local pro Heiðar Logi, master of these North Atlantic waters. If you’re lucky, he’ll offer some pointers.
Sea Kayaking
Experience the Arctic Ocean on a sea kayaking adventure in the Haganesvík area. Guided by experts, you’ll spot fishing cottages, waterfalls, geothermal springs, curious seals, and dramatic cliffs along the water’s edge.
Hiking
Explore the wild landscapes of the Troll Peninsula on foot with our knowledgeable local guides. From meandering trails near Deplar Farm to snowy pathways in Svarfaðardalur Nature Reserve, there’s a route for everyone.
Whale Watching
The cold waters off the coast of Iceland make it a playground for whales. All winter long, witness their impressive size and playful behavior on a whale watching tour from Eyjafjörður. From a traditional Icelandic oak boat, you’ll spot dolphins, humpbacks, blues, and orcas.
Haganesvík Gym
Located at the Haganesvík beach property, our fully equipped sports hall has it all, a perfect option for an indoor sports day. Try your hand at pickleball, badminton, dodgeball, soccer, and basketball, or climb one of the varied routes on our fully equipped climbing wall.
Horseback Riding*
Iceland’s iconic purebred horses descend from those brought by Viking settlers in the 9th century. Known for their hardy build and unique tölt gait—a smooth, four-beat stride— they offer an adventurous way to explore Iceland’s rugged terrain, whether it’s your first time in the saddle or you’re an experienced rider looking to cover some ground.
