NEW LOOK. NEW DIRECTION. I always welcome the New Year with anticipation for things to come. But before we dive into 2026, I want to celebrate a member of the Elegant Island Living family. As Terry McCarthy steps away from the magazine and begins a new chapter, we are filled with gratitude and appreciation for her hard work and dedication. As most of you know, Terry has been an integral part of EIL’s success as a lifestyle magazine since I initially founded it in 2002. She has been the glue that keeps us together but also the oil that keeps the gears moving. But never fear, the gears won’t stop turning with Terry’s departure! Kathi Williams has gracefully shifted roles and continues to move us forward.

HISTORIC WIN BY A FINN Following a brilliant 23-under performance that secured him a one-stroke victory at Sea Island Golf Club, Sami Välimäki hoisted the trophy before an enthusiastic gallery at the 2025 RSM Classic. The win was the first PGA TOUR victory for a Finnish golfer. The annual Official PGA TOUR Event hosted by Davis Love III and the Davis Love Foundation since 2010 raises funds to support charities focused on children and families in need.

The local real estate market is buzzing, and even the world has noticed. Ann Harrell and Susan Imhoff, both of DeLoach Sotheby’s International Realty, have made history. The talented real estate team, along with listing agent, Atlantabased broker Chase Mizell of Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s International Realty, closed the most expensive house ever to sell in the state of Georgia—and the number is breathtaking: $30M. Brief pause. Take it in. Now let’s give a huge round of applause for the home team. Well done, Ladies, well done.

Entelechy II, designed by the late architect John Portman, sits oceanfront, an ode to modern design, lush gardens, and organic, sculptural forms. To walk through the home is to enter a world-city museum – a space unlike any other – think Getty, Guggenheim, or Tate. It graced the April 2025 cover of Elegant Island Living. Positioning the estate for the global luxury market was universal in scope, requiring skill, preparation, and lots of time, both on and off property. One hour to prep for a showing. Two hours on average for

an actual showing. Potential buyers were welcomed onto the estate, given a tour with champagne, and encouraged to linger amongst the gardens, walkways, and architectural vistas for as long as they desired. The tour concluded with a custom, jasmine-scented candle by Diptyque and printed book about the architect and estate in a lovely gift bag. “We understood the

property – that it’s a collector’s item – a piece of art, and how we needed to market it.” - Ann Harrell

But real estate is always a numbers game. Harrell sums it up: “We’ve sold a lot of properties. Our numbers were good. That’s what people look at. And presentation was very important to the client.” Imhoff agrees, “The seller was vested in the way the property was marketed. They didn’t want it being sold as a party house.” Imhoff adds, “And we both specialize on Sea Island. It was a natural fit.” To market this special property, they interviewed photographers from Palm Beach to Nashville.

They went with Atlanta’s Bartolotti Media, who spent days on-property, lighting, filming, and even rising early to capture the full moon as seen in the cinematic film (video doesn’t do it justice) to present Entelechy II. The sweeping drone footage and photography capture the magic of Portman’s signature design elements like atriums, suspended bridges, fountains, and art, some of which was included in the sale. “It was a privilege to work with the Portman Foundation. Janna Portman was delightful,” says

Harrell. “She really wanted to honor her father’s legacy. And that was part of our goal.” She adds, “I felt like we accomplished that.” Imhoff concurs, “That was very important to us – we worked really hard to do that.” And the big question: are the numbers coming here? Palm Beach? Big Sky? The Hamptons? Harrell and Imhoff exchange a smile, and it’s off to another showing.

Burch, Books, & Conservation SIT-DOWN WITH THE NEW OWNER OF RIGHTON BOOKS In our book, Burch Barger wins the prize for best name on the island and maybe overall. Although spelled differently, her gorgeous first name has a slight echo of the natural world. Fitting that Barger belongs to Stewards of the Georgia Coast, an informal network of donors committed to advancing philanthropy of coastal conservation. Barger and her team host educational events and field excursions to highlight the work of coastal conservation experts.

Our goal is to widen the circle of people who recognize the global significance of the Georgia Coast. “We take donors on paddle trips through the Okefenokee Swamp, hikes at Ceylon Wildlife Management Area in Camden County, and even beach walks on Jekyll to take inventory of sea turtle nests,” she explains. Barger shares the benefits and challenges facing these special places with donors and connects them with scientists and experts. “We visit these beautiful places that have been

conserved and talk about the work that went into conserving them as well as the on-going research or restoration that’s being done to benefit the coast.” Longtime islanders, Burch and Jim Barger Jr. are also the new owners of Righton Books, a local independent bookstore in Redfern Village with a warm and welcoming vibe. The couple purchased Righton in late August 2025. “We’ve been regular customers since it opened,” says Burch, “Righton packaging has always been under our Christmas tree. A happy place for us to stop in and shop.” Ownership resulted from Jim’s experience as an author, specifically during the launch

of his acclaimed book, Jimmy Carter: Rivers and Dreams, which he co-wrote with another local legend, Dr. Carlton Hicks. “We did a good bit of travel with that book release and visited a lot of independent bookstores,” Burch shares. “We kept coming back to Righton and thinking how much we love the staff and shop.” Jim started a conversation with the former owner and asked if he would be interested in selling. Being Beens THREE SSI SISTERS ON WORK AND PLAY

Although reserved, and even a bit shy, the Been sisters need no introduction. Daughters of two long established Islanders, Jess McKenzie and Emily and Courtney Been, are quietly creating Part 2 of the family development business — a Sister Act of Collaboration — where design meets build. (Merrill Been, the youngest sister, is finishing up her senior year at University of Tennessee and is going to work for a financial firm in Nashville.)

“We’re unique because a lot of families who move back to the island don’t get to work together. They’re a lawyer or doctor or accountant.” She adds, “It’s fun to cross pollinate with my sisters.”

With an easy-going approach, the Been sisters draw on each other’s natural talent and expertise in all their collaborations.

“When we all get to work together, we have similar ideas. We’re very creative,” she pauses, smiling. “Well, Courtney, we love you but…” Courtney laughs. “I’m more like my dad – business-focused.”

Jess McKenzie, owner of Loom & Wire, a St. Simons based textile importer of Turkish and Persian rugs and curated lighting, takes the lead for design decisions and input.

Emily Been, a graphic designer who graduated from SCAD and owner of Em Been Designs, a branding and design agency based on St. Simons, handles logo and social media with input on design direction.

The Been sisters are quietly changing the on-island development game, a traditionally maledominated industry. “When I started working for my dad’s former company, there were only males. No woman made decisions on anything,” Courtney explains. “When Jessie started, she had a hand in a lot of the decisions from how to design closets to overall aesthetic.”

Rarely do we begin a text exchange for a Q&A interview at 5:11 am. But you gotta get up early in the morning to catch Cullen Peck. Cullen is many things, depending on the second you catch her. A perfectionist (self-admittedly), she is the very definition of creative. The wunderkind juggles painting, partnering, parenting, and oh, running a catering-private chef business, Taste Toscana, with her husband Stefano Fani. Below are edited excerpts from our sunrise back-n-forth with the very talented Cullen Peck. EIL: Describe yourself as creative—in art, food, partnering, and parenting. CP: It isn’t, perhaps, the most flattering of words, but I would describe myself as “exacting” in all aspects of life. I try my best to modulate that quality when dealing with others—particularly my spouse and children— but I am a firm believer that anything done should be done to the absolute best of your ability or not done at all. EIL: Where do you draw inspiration for your paintings. CP: Picasso said, “inspiration exists, but it has to find you working,” and I agree completely. I watch my children—how they engage with their world in openness and joy. I strive to show the viewer, not only the world of the child in the painting, but a world out of that viewer’s own childhood.

“I want people to look at my paintings and see themselves.” EIL: In the World of Cullen, where are you most at peace? CP: Nothing gives me more peace than the solitude of mornings in the studio. When light ripples through life oak branches into my skylights, the world is silent, coffee is fresh, and I’m halfway through a piece that’s responding to my expectations — that’s when I am happiest. EIL: Because it’s the New Year, and we have to ask…what are your goals, motivations, insights for 2026? CP: I often joke with my friends that I am so overwhelmingly busy that the most planning I can handle is what’s happening in the next 12 hours…I have no idea what to expect of 2026!

“I’m coordinating so many moving pieces —

gallery owners, catering clients, travel soccer schedules, piano recitals, babysitters, my children and husband’s concerns and questions — that I can’t think much outside the crisis of ‘now.’ But there’s a lot of joy in living in the moment.” Do I have dreams? Of course! I’d like to expand my market permanently out of Georgia by securing additional longterm representation in more galleries; place some of my more contemporary portraits into more prestigious shows; however, to be honest, I’m more invested in the immediate joys of watching my children grow into who they will become. EIL: Now the fun stuff… Napping? Knitting in ’26? CP: A long-time dream of mine is to take the trans-

Siberian railway from Europe all the way down through Mongolia and into Vietnam.

“Life is so frenetic in the modern world, and I love the way travelling by train over long distances forces you to engage with how vast this world is.” EIL: Bring it home. How’d you land in this special place? CP: Grew up in Atlanta, went to NYU, moved to Florence, Italy, and lived there for 11 years, during which time I met Stefano. He really wanted to give living in the US a try after our children were born. My mother grew up on St. Simons, and I spent many Easters and Christmases here visiting my grandparents. This small island with its tight-knit community and beautiful landscape felt like the perfect spot moving from Italy to the United States. It’s turned out to be a great fit. JANUARY 2026

CAPTIVATING Change Agent Kam Throckmorton enters a room with classic silver screen beauty. The glamourous stylist, based on St. Simons Island, captivates with a magnetic smile, perfectly shaped cheekbones and arched brows, and stunning ensembles. She came to style, partly out of necessity. As a tall 6’2” middle schooler, Kam created a game-changing strategy, which ultimately turned youthful passion into successful career.

“I’ve been this tall since the 7th grade, and I noticed at a very young age that if I wore an interesting outfit or a fun accessory, I was able to change the conversation away from my physical size— which is really not that interesting.”

Kam credits three women with giving her the confidence to be creative and curate her own look. Her grandmother, a lover of costume jewelry, and always larger than life. Her mom, a fearless dresser and flight attendant when looks mattered. And her mom’s bestie, Judie Huey, a Parisian fashion model and photographer, who wore tutus with T’s before Carrie Bradshaw stepped onto the Sex in the City set. Today, Kam delights in helping women with style transformation, which begins with education, leads to wardrobe curation, and includes a bit of fun, rule breaking. “The biggest honor of my career as a stylist is witnessing so many women transform. LADY & LIBERTY BEAUTY AND SOLIDARITY DURING AN ERA OF SEGREGATION BY JOSH DUKES

Eighty-one years ago on a brisk December day, a fashionable young Savannah widow stood before a crowd at the J. A. Jones Shipyard in Brunswick. Mrs. William “Arilee” Cox—in stole, lace hat, with leather gloves in hand—lifted a bottle to christen a Liberty Ship bearing her late husband’s name.

The SS William Cox The SS William Cox was the first Liberty Ship built in Brunswick to honor an African American serviceman, and one of only seventeen Liberty Ships nationwide to carry the name of a Black honoree.

William “Willie” Cox was born in Cairo, Georgia in 1898 and spent more than 25 years in maritime work, beginning as a coal passer on the Merchant Miner Steamship line. At the dawn of World War II, Cox joined the Merchant Marines and survived two ship sinkings before he became a fireman aboard the SS David H. Atwater. The ship was sunk by a German U-boat off the coast of Virginia in April ‘42. Cox was killed in the attack. The U.S. Maritime Commission selected Willie’s name for a Liberty Ship two years later, an important milestone as the first Liberty Ship built in Brunswick

to honor an African American serviceman. The J.A. Jones Shipyard would turn out ninetynine cargo ships before the war ended. With an unusual show of solidarity, construction of the SS William Cox brought out a multitude of well-wishers that winter. For a wartime coastal city operating under segregation, the moment stood out then and still does today.

On Christmas Day 1944, black and white shipyard workers volunteered to work without pay to finish the vessel ahead of schedule as a gift “for the boys overseas.”

Wind Down in French Wine Country EDITOR’S PICK: BORDEAUX January winds can be chilly on St. Simons, so warm up with a glass of Bordeaux and start planning that early summer trip to sunny French wine country. I had the pleasure of accompanying our daughter Hunter Levitan to Bordeaux this past June for un voyage rapide, a six-day whirlwind tour. The weather was perfect. Warm, dry, not humid, or terribly hot, yet. Yes, I ran to keep up with Hunter – she’s fast. Please plan on spending more than 6 days! While the name of this article is Wind Down in Wine Country, we did not do that…but it was still amazing.

As a Content Strategist for AmiGo, a curated recommendations travel app, Hunter (NY-based) created an itinerary of must-eats, drink, taste, and chateaux, for our trip. Below are highlights from our mother-daughter tour de force.

Getting There Take a plane to Paris and travel via train to Bordeaux Saint-Jean. Note: you must take a local from Charles de Gaulle to Massey TGV – a few stops – before boarding the TGV INOUI bullet train. (I, of course, did not know this, so French 101

came in handy.) The trip in total takes about 3½ to 4 hours. You can also fly directly to Bordeaux from London and Paris and other European capitals.

Eat & Drink L’Alchimiste: Coffee and pastries on a picturesque side street, near the public garden. Stroll through the magnificent city garden, admire the topiaries, on your way for a perfect espresso and pain au chocolat. Lunch at Panaille: Local bistronomic restaurant. I ordered the same thing Hunter did. It was great. She wrote on AmiGo:

“Innovative yet unfussy cuisine… Lunch menu was exceptional, everything was a highlight: best fried chicken I’ve ever had (delicate, lightly dusted, not oily or heavy) with spicy cucumber salad, fresh tomatoes with siphoned feta and cashews, zucchini with zaatar and piquillo sauce.”

Dinner at Ost Bordeaux: We stumbled upon this tiny former wine cellar, drawn in by the cool architectural vibe, and realized this was one of the highly recommended stops on our list. Everything is homemade and menu changes. If available, try the gnocchi with cured egg yolk, cream, and crispy Guanciale.

Museum La Cité du Vin: Absolutely, absolutely go! This immersive, modern museum, celebrates the millennium history of wine and wine culture around the world. So entertaining and engaging— and you get a delicious glass of red wine at the end.

Stay Maison Fernand: Lovely guesthouse in the historic district of the city center. Be prepared for stairs but worth the climb to breakfast on the roof, literally, out of a movie.

Chateau Country - Médoc: Rent a car and begin an official tour of chateau country. We took the scenic route through Médoc, along the left bank of the Gironde River. This picturesque region is home to the world’s most famous appellations like Pauillac, Margaux and Saint-Estèphe. Chateau Stay: We stayed at Le Château Réal, in Saint-Seurinde-Cadourne, Gironde. A picturesque guest house, newly

renovated by a young Parisian couple living their dream life. The pool and villa have a Mediterranean feel. Built in 1800 by a high-ranking officer under Napoleon to woo a lover. Legendary! SAVOR On Saturday, February 21, 2026, the majestic live oaks of Gascoigne Bluff Park will once again stand sentinel over one of the most anticipated events in the Golden Isles. From 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., the St. Simons Land Trust will host its 2026 Oyster Roast, a celebration that has become synonymous with coastal culture, community spirit, and the enduring mission to preserve the natural beauty of St. Simons Island.

What began as a modest gathering has blossomed into the island’s premier social and philanthropic event. Longtime supporters may recall the very first Oyster Roast held in 2000 at Village Creek Landing. That intimate affair hosted just 70 attendees. Today, the event has grown exponentially, welcoming 1,500 guests to the banks of the Frederica River. Despite this tremendous growth, the heart of the Oyster Roast remains unchanged: it stands as the Land Trust’s only major fundraiser of the year, vital to fueling the organization’s conservation efforts. The 2026 Oyster Roast promises a culinary experience that highlights the very best of coastal cuisine. The centerpiece, of course, will be roasted and

steamed oysters, a savory tradition that anchors the evening. Beyond the bivalves, attendees can indulge in dishes from nearly 20 of the area’s most beloved local restaurants, offering a true taste of the island. This year’s menu features notable contributions from

key community partners. A special shoutout goes to Donte Habersham, owner of Mr. Shuck’s Seafood, who will be providing the event’s signature Lowcountry Boil, a dish that perfectly captures the flavor of the Georgia coast. The event also relies on the expertise of seasoned veterans like Charlie

Williams, owner of Crabdaddy’s and Fiddlers. For more than 20 years, Williams has been the master behind the steamed oysters, ensuring every batch is cooked to perfection. For those who prefer their oysters roasted over an open flame, the experience is elevated JANUARY 2026

Together with their staff and dedicated volunteers, they roast oysters that are as delicious as the atmosphere around the fires is enchanting. Complementing the food will be a selection of preferred beverages, including beer and wine, perfect for sipping while enjoying the evening’s entertainment. The air will be 68

filled with the sounds of live music from four different artists, including the soulful tunes of Owen Plant and the smooth melodies of saxophonist Michael Hulett, keeping the energy high and the vibes relaxed.

“It’s fantastic to see our community come together with such energy and enthusiasm.”

Behind the scenes, the event is a massive logistical feat spearheaded by Marty Moody, the Land Trust Oyster Roast Coordinator. “I absolutely love this event and the chance to team up with so many amazing local restaurants and businesses to bring it to life,” says Moody.

“This event would simply not be possible without the many restaurants, businesses, and volunteers who make it happen.”

Her sentiment is echoed by Emily Ellison, the Land Trust’s Executive Director.

Indeed, the smooth execution of the Oyster Roast is due to the hard work of over 150 event volunteers. These dedicated individuals manage everything from parking and check-in to serving food and drinks, ensuring trash and recycling are handled responsibly, and tackling the massive setup and breakdown required for such a large gathering. While the Oyster Roast is a celebration of food and friends, its purpose is deeply rooted in the soil of St. Simons. Founded

over two decades ago in response to increasing development pressure, the St. Simons Land Trust has worked tirelessly to protect the island’s unique character. The organization has successfully preserved iconic properties such as the John Gilbert Nature Trail and the breathtaking Cannon’s Point Preserve. These protected lands provide essential green spaces, wildlife habitats, and historical preservation in an area where land is a finite and precious resource. Camellias have long been cherished across the South, gracing gardens and landscapes with their vibrant blooms and shining foliage. Their lasting popularity is due not only to their visual appeal, but also to their rich cultural associations and role as symbols of hospitality and refinement.

Originating from Eastern and Southern Asia, camellias were introduced to the United States during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Fascinated by their elegant blooms and adaptability to the climate, Southern plantation owners and horticulturists eagerly embraced these plants. Over time, they became a fixture in Southern gardens, often passed down through generations as treasured heirlooms.

With hundreds of cultivated varieties, camellias display a broad spectrum of colors, including white, pink, red, and even variegated patterns. The two most popular species in the South are Camellia Japonica and Camellia Sasanqua. PREPARED TO SAVE A LIFE:

THE CRITICAL ROLE OF ATHLETIC TRAINERS IN OUR SCHOOLS

A closer look at Southeast Georgia Health System’s Sports Medicine Program and its ongoing commitment to protecting players and coaches, both on and off the field.

On April 28, 2025, Hunter Gantos, ATC, was in the right place at the right time. As a Certified Athletic Trainer, Gantos kept a watchful eye on young athletes during Brunswick High School spring football practices. From her usual spot on the sidelines, she stood ready to help if anyone became injured or ill. What happened next was something no one saw coming. Coach Thomas Tedder, Brunswick High School’s defensive coordinator was only 53 years old when he collapsed on the field that day. As Head Coach Garrett Grady called 9-1-1, Gantos sprang into action, sprinting over to Coach Tedder. “He was having a seizure. He looked dead,” Gantos recalls. As soon as the seizure passed, Gantos used an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to restart Coach Tedder’s heart. The AED delivers an electric shock to restore heart rhythm. After restarting the coach’s heart, Gantos performed CPR to keep his heart beating until paramedics arrived. Even after they arrived, she continued to help paramedics until they could transport the fallen coach to the hospital.

“Athletic trainers practice so much; it’s nice knowing you have the skills. When it happened, I went on auto pilot. I just thought, ‘I have to save him.’” READY FOR ANY EMERGENCY Coach Tedder’s high blood pressure led to him experiencing what is known as sudden cardiac death. Although he was taking medication, it wasn’t properly regulating his blood pressure. “I remember being at practice, then waking up two weeks later in the hospital. Had Hunter not been there, I would not be having this conversation,” Tedder says. Paul Trumbull, PT, MBA, director of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Services at Southeast Georgia Health System, agrees. “Athletic trainers are licensed and certified by the state of Georgia. They’re well equipped to handle any emergency, from sports injuries to heat illness to lightning strikes to concussion management. Each athletic trainer has an Emergency Action Plan specific to the sport and the school they’re working with. As part of that plan, they make safety plans and recommendations.”

Board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, Beau Sasser, MD, serves as the Medical Director of the Sports Medicine Program and oversees the athletic trainer program supporting schools in Glynn, McIntosh and Brantley counties. The program currently employs seven full-time certified athletic trainers and plans to add two more soon. SAFETY ON THE SIDELINES Coach Tedder’s experience demonstrates that athletic trainers like Gantos can prevent tragedy. “Having a certified athletic trainer on campus is essential for any school,” Trumbull says. Coach Tedder puts it more strongly. “If you don’t have a certified athletic trainer and an AED machine at your school, shame on you.” After two years of working on the sidelines of Brunswick High School sporting events, Gantos moved over to Glynn Academy. She remains close to the Brunswick High School community. “As much as I’m grateful I saved his life, I’m so glad Coach Tedder kept fighting for his life. My relationship with Coach Tedder and Coach Grady

As we welcome a new year, it seems like the perfect time to revisit the beginnings of wine. Long before sommeliers swirled glasses and pontificated notes of leather and pencil shavings, wine was simply a chance creation and enjoyed as a fortuitous discovery. Wine’s story begins not in the vineyards of France or Italy, but thousands of years earlier in the fertile valleys of South Caucasus, situated between the Black and Caspian Seas. Archaeologists have traced the earliest evidence of wine to pottery shards, found in the modern-day country of Georgia, dating back to around 6000 BCE. The vessel’s remains revealed traces of tartaric acid, a key marker of grape fermentation. The “locals” likely stored crushed grapes in clay jars buried underground, creating the first job openings for neolithic winemakers. Georgians still use kvevri, large clay vessels sealed with beeswax, to create wine in a style much like their ancestors. From Georgia, the practice of winemaking spread quickly considering it was the stone age. By 5000 BCE, winemaking had reached Iran including todays

fifth most populous city of Shiraz. Fast-forward to 4100 BCE, and the people of Armenia elevated wine to the next level. Archaeologists have recently unearthed the world’s oldest winery in a cave, monikered Areni-1, complete with grape presses and fermentation vats. Among its remarkable finds, the cave contained the oldest preserved human brain tissue, a straw skirt, and even a shoe. This gives new meaning to the phrase: whatever you do, take care of your shoes. Around 3000 BCE, Egyptians began making wine for gods and pharaohs, as it played a significant role in ancient ceremonial rituals. Following the introduction of grape cultivation from the Levant, a thriving wine industry was established in the Nile Delta. Meanwhile, Mesopotamians were writing wine into the Epic of Gilgamesh. The wine goddess, Siduri, advises Gilgamesh to enjoy life and good things as wine was believed to bring happiness and joy.

From March 9 through March 15, 2026, the Coastal Georgia Historical Society, with our community partners and sponsors, will present Revolution on the Coast: A 250th Celebration (RC250), a week-long Semiquincentennial festival for Georgians to explore and experience the history of the American Revolution on the Coast. In the 1976, as the United States approached the 200-year anniversary of the nation’s founding, excitement was in the air. From sea to shining sea to the City by the Sea, Americans commemorated the bicentennial with celebration, education, and historic preservation efforts. In Glynn County, the community’s work began with the recognition of Brunswick’s own bicentennial in 1971. Five years later, our area was ready to join the national festivities in earnest. The collections of the Coastal Georgia Historical Society show the plethora of methods that locals used to commemorate the country’s two hundredth birthday. The Brunswick

chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution published “Streets and Squares of Olde Brunswick,” a pamphlet that included an 1837 map of the city and explanations of the names of its historic parks and avenues. The Bartram Trail Society, inspired by the Coastal Georgia travels of naturalist William Bartram between 1773 and 1776, republished his illustrations and a map of his journey in partnership with Georgia Power. Even several years before the celebration officially began, locals were making plans: a January 1973 report called “200 Years of Days to Remember,” prepared for the American Revolution Bicentennial Commission by the State of Georgia, shared pages of information on the Glynn County area and included $100,000 for the historic preservation of the St. Simons Island Lighthouse. the festival’s main event: the First Oval Office Project of the Museum of the American Revolution. The project also features common soldiers’ tents and a dining tent, along with costumed interpreters who will recount the different experiences of those who served in various capacities during the Revolutionary War. This will be the first time this special exhibit has visited Georgia, providing a wonderful opportunity for our state’s citizens to interact with the important history of the American Revolution.
