India Regional Meeting - February 5th, 2026

IFROM AJAY JOSEPH

t is my great pleasure to welcome the ISSA President, and Executive Board members of the ISSA leadership, the Honourable Guests, distinguished delegates, sponsors, and ship suppliers from across panIndia to this ISSA India Regional Meeting, taking place under the banner of the International Shipsuppliers & Services Association in India.
This meeting provides a valuable platform for industry professionals to come together to exchange insights, strengthen collaboration, and discuss key developments within the ship supply and maritime services sector. ISSA, as the global trade association representing ship suppliers and marine service providers worldwide, continues to play an important role in promoting best practices, upholding industry standards, and encouraging meaningful dialogue that supports growth and professionalism in India and across the global maritime community.
I believe that the discussions and interactions during this meeting will be productive and enriching, fostering stronger partnerships and a shared vision for the future of ship supply.
I extend my best wishes to ISSA, the organising committee, sponsors, and all participants for a successful and engaging ISSA India Regional Meeting.

India Regional Meeting - February 5th, 2026

steemed members of the Indian shipping community, ISSA Associate Members, members of the media, valued sponsors, Ladies and Gentlemen,
May I welcome you to this very important day of high-level networking and business connecting.
I would like to thank our distinguished VIP guests who have taken time out of their busy schedules to be here today. Thank you so much for supporting our international association in such a gracious way.
I would also like to thank the many sponsor companies who have made today possible. Thank you for your support and we look forward to working with out and your colleagues in the months ahead.
Myself and my ISSA colleagues – George Saris, ISSA Executive Vice President and Treasurer; Abdul Hameed Hajah, ISSA Executive Vice President; Fazall Abdul Hameed, Vice President of the Singapore Association of Shipsuppliers & Services; Carl Forsman, ISSA Executive Vice President; Oshan Fernando, ISSA Representative for Sri Lanka; and our ISSA Secretary Sean Moloney; all look forward to meeting you and discussing the many ways that ISSA can help to further the excellent work you are doing as valued ISSA Associate Members here in this amazing country.

The overriding purpose of today’s excellent meeting is to explore the possibility of setting up an Indian National Association. The benefits of doing so are numerous, not least of all because National Associations, of which ISSA has 42 so far, are instrumental in formulating and implementing ISSA policy for the global ship supply sector.
By coming together under the auspices of a National Association, India would be one of the largest in the ISSA Assembly. There would be nothing to stop India going further and winning a seat on the ISSA Executive Board. We would welcome such a development to take place and I would like to thank our dear friend Ajay Joseph, for his help in organising today, but also for the excellent work he is doing in representing the interests of ISSA Associate Members on the ISSA Assembly.
We are all delighted to be here today and are at your disposal if you have any questions or queries emanating from today’s presentations.
Rafael Fernandez ISSA President

India Regional Meeting - February 5th, 2026

ISSA is the international association representing 1,500 ship suppliers across the world.
The Association was formed in 1955 and celebrated its Diamond Jubilee in 2015, representing 60 years of service to the maritime industry.
ISSA has 42 National Associations of ship suppliers as full ISSA members as well as Associate Members in 51 other countries where no National Association exists.
ISSA members have to undergo a rigorous vetting procedure before gaining admittance. Our members and the goods and services they offer can be found in every major port in the world.
Ship supply is recognised as very much a ‘relationship’ business. To ensure fair trading and best practice ISSA has developed a set of Conditions, which form the basis of any supply contract.
To strengthen the relationship between ship supplier and buyer still further, ISSA drew up a Code of Ethics, which Members abide by to ensure the highest standards are applied in day-to-day operations.
Publications
Information is very much our business. We publish an informative and interesting magazine called ‘The Ship Supplier’ at quarterly intervals containing news, views and relevant articles to the vibrant world of ship supply, as well as the publication and dissemination of regular ISSA Bulletins which are emailed to all members. The ISSA website, www.shipsupply.org, is kept regularly up to date with news and information.
ISSA enjoys Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) status with both the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and UNCTAD. The ISSA Secretariat is certified to ISO 9001:2015 quality standard. More information can be found on our Related Links page on our website (www.shipsupply.org). ISSA also enjoys very strong relationships with the leading international maritime trade associations. It also sits on the board of InterManager, the International Association of Ship Managers.
OCEAN is a Special Committee of ISSA and lobbies the European Commission and EU member States on behalf of ISSA members. The ISSA Secretariat oversees the administrative functions of OCEAN.
Assembly meeting are held regularly where National Associations can discuss ISSA projects and tasks and enjoy top notch business networking.

An annual ISSA Convention, held in a different location each year, is a must attend for all ISSA members and their customers, the buyers. This year’s Convention, ISSA 68, will be held in Rome from November 3rd to the 5th.
Education and continued improvements of the important global ship supply workforce is essential to ISSA, which was why ISSA launched ISSA Education, which is a series of training modules for ship supply professionals. You can find out more by clicking here
ISSA is the only international trade association representing ship suppliers and maritime service providers world-wide.
The Association’s Governing Body is the ISSA Assembly which is formed of one representative taken from each of the 42 National Associations in ISSA’s membership together with an Executive Board member who represents the interest of the Associate Members.
Associate Members are companies based in a country which has no National Association and is therefore free to join ISSA direct. View ISSA International Associations, which shows at a glance the countries that have a national association.
If you are located in one of these countries your application will be processed by your National Association. However, in the first instance, please apply to the ISSA Secretariat via this link. The Secretariat will then forward your application to the National Association. Once you have been accepted by your National Association, you automatically gain ISSA membership and are entitled, for example, to display the ISSA logo and list your firm in the ISSA Register and on the ISSA web site.
For a small extra annual fee, you can have your company’s web site linked to the ISSA web site so that visitors can move seamlessly to your web site and see for themselves the products and services that you supply.
In addition, you can, for an additional small fee, have your logo displayed against your web entry in the ISSA Register of Members.
If any companies have issues with joining their National Association, please email the ISSA Secretariat at secretariat@shipsupply.org
Where no National Association exists, ISSA associate membership is available to firms who fulfil the rigorous requirements that are designed to demonstrate quality, reliability and solvency to ISSA members’ customers: the world’s ship owners and ship managers.
Applicants for Associate Membership must complete a two-part application process. As well as completing the Associate Membership Application form, all aspiring Associate Members of ISSA must undergo the full ISSA Members

Quality Standard Audit and achieve the Standard if their application is to succeed. If a Company is ISO9001:2015 Certified then, after verification by ISSA of their ISO Certificate, they can gain ISSA Quality Certification automatically without a full audit of their operations and subject to the applicable fee.
