ESN Liberec is a nonprofit student organization at the Technical University of Liberec. ESN Liberec is part of Europe’s largest student organization, the Erasmus Student Network.
A key project of ESN Liberec is the buddy program. In this project, Czech students choose a foreign student and become their „buddy“. In the first of foreign students, they act as a support and lend They help the foreign student settle in the dormitory also arrange other necessary documents.

This Study Guide provides you with the most important information you need for your European Business studies in Zittau and Liberec.
Zittau is located in the southeastern corner of Germany, in the Free State of Saxony. In fact, you will study at Germany’s easternmost university, directly at the border to Czech Republic and Poland.
Liberec is located in Bohemia, Czech Republic. It can be reached from Zittau in 30 minutes by train or car.

#14 Study Regulations
It is important that you familiarise yourself at the beginning of your studies with the rules that apply to your degree program:

• Graduate thesis
• etc.
#15 Modules and ECTS Credits
A module is a self-contained, time-limited unit with defined learning outcomes and ECTS credits. It typically lasts one semester and ends with an examination.
ECTS credits reflect the average student workload (1 credit = 30 hours). After passing the exam with at least a "sufficient" grade (4.0), the full ECTS credits are awarded, regardless of the actual grade achieved.
By the end of the 6-semester study program, students must have earned a total of 180 ECTS credits. Most individual modules are worth 5 ECTS each.
The program includes a semester abroad, which is credited with 30 ECTS.
The internship is awarded 35 ECTS, reflecting its extended workload and practical relevance.
The final module , which includes the bachelor’s thesis and defense, accounts for 15 ECTS.

#16 Registration for Module Exams
Each semester generally consists of six modules. You will have to pass an exam for each module at the end of the semester.
For your module exams at HSZG, it is not necessary to register. You will be registered automatically. (This is different to TU Liberec, where you have to register for exams.)
Approaching the examination period, please check at the student portal if you have been registered correctly.

At HSZG, your performance will be graded according to the following grading system:
1,0 very good
1,3 very good minus
1,7 good plus B+
2,0 good B
2,3 good minus

3,0 satisfactory
3,3 satisfactory minus
3,7 sufficient plus
4,0 sufficient
5,0 failed
TUL and HSZG have different grading systems. Because you are studying in a double degree program at both universities, grades must be converted. You will find the converting tables at Page 34 of the Examination Regulations.

On the campus, you can use the free Eduroam wifi network.
It is a worldwide service and provides internet access at many university campuses around the world.
So don‘t be confused if you walk through Rome, New York or Rio de Janeiro and suddenly you have Wifi access

#21 Deutschland-Ticket
Your semester contribution comprises many social benefits including the semester ticket (DeutschlandTicket).
Students of “European Business” enrolled via TU Liberec do not have to pay the fee for the Deutschland-Ticket.
With the Deutschland-Ticket you are allowed to use most public transport services (busses, trains) in entire Germany. However, the ticket is not valid in Czech Republic, so you cannot use it to travel to Liberec.

The Zittau mensa is in the same building as the library, just 2 minutes walk from our faculty building.
To pay, you can use either cash, credit or debit card, or your student card. You can put money on your student card directly at the mensa cash desk.
There will always be at least one vegan menu available!
