Then you plant greenery and colors to bloom throughout the seasons and set out walkways and benches to welcome all who pass. It’s a quiet, steady process, and each step adds to the beauty of the whole.” Arliss Ryan URI Foundation

Education is an endeavor that is highly sensitive to location. The physical environment of a campus does much to stimulate the mind, body, and spirit of those who study, live, and work there. Developing and updating the University’s physical campus goes far beyond constructing and renovating facilities. It requires us to persue a cohesive vision for the entire campus experience - including the spaces between and around buildings. A beautiful and serene campus has the potential to stir imaginations and motivate students, faculty, and staff to put forth their best efforts. An attractive campus environment would also be enormously advantageous in recruiting the best students to the University. This pamphlet was prepared as a starting point for future campus development - a plan that will help fulfill the aesthetic potential of our campus.
