EXPERIENCE
Research Fellow, Opportunities in Research and Creative Arts at CCNY, New York, NY June 2025 - October 2025
• Independently analyzed Leonardo da Vinci’s architectural sketches, codices, and commentary to reconstruct his architectural and structural journey, synthesizing various sources into a cohesive effective narrative.
• Investigated and tested da Vinci’s structural observations on arches and domes and applied his scientific findings to an efficient design proposal along the NYC waterfront.
Research Assistant, Advanced Building Construction Lab, New York, NY June - December 2024
• Develop G-code with Grasshopper for 3D printing with clay, experimenting with the design of minimal surface structures and various clay compositions to enhance structural properties and efficiency of clay.
• Prepare 3D printed concrete specimens for post-tensioning processes and perform experimental stress tests.
• Writing and editing published book, Funicular Structures: The Art of Building Efficiently, by Damon Bolhassani.
• Researching, writing, editing, and drawing for a series of publications regarding experimental concrete.
Intern, SLO Architecture, Kirk Lake, NY June - January 2023
• Engaged in on-site shadowing, closely observed the architect's decision-making process, and gained insights into effective project management and coordination.
• Took a hands-on role in interior design decisions using rendering models on Rhinoceros 3dm.
• Researched proactively and identified potential vendors, effectively sourced and acquired materials required for ongoing projects; this ensured cost-effectiveness and quality.
Intern, Stephen B. Jacobs Group, New York, NY July - August 2019
• Negotiated with potential vendors via phone and email, ensuring timely procurement of specific pieces aligned within budgetary constraints of upcoming residential projects.
• Efficiently organized various inventory and fabric collections, implementing systematic sorting methods by item, year, and collection for future enhanced accessibility.

ACADEMIC WORK
PROJECT IN TANDEM WITH : GIANNA ANTENUCCI
Just like its Latin definition, this ADU serves as an eye inside and out, framing views of its curated site and interiors through graduated-thickness walls carved with niches. These recesses offer moments for seating, storage, and light, turning thickness into utility. The compact form minimizes heat loss, while natural materials and layered spaces foster warmth, privacy, and connection.

Attempt 2:
Extruded roof with large skylights and increased envelope raise heating and cooling loads due to greater solar gain, heat loss, and larger air volume.

Attempt 3:
Smaller skylights; wall assembly and triple glazing reduces heat loss, minimizes solar gain with insulation, lowers heating and cooling demands.

02 THE LAYERED ASCENT
PROJECT IN TANDEM WITH :
KIISHI OGUNFOWORA
This live-work building is an artist residency that fosters communication, creativity, and visibility between the public passerby and the resident artists. It features eight residential units with builtin workspaces, complemented by shared spaces such as a café and lobby on the ground floor, a gallery on the sixth floor, and an activated central stair encased in a vertical display to transform the building into a living exhibition.

ACADEMIC WORK
PROJECT IN TANDEM WITH : ROSA CORTES
This Middle Eastern Embassy in Havana is injected by a number of cultural vessels, each hosting a distinct program yet operating as part of a shared cultural fabric. Inspired by traditional Syrian and Lebanese pottery, the vessels both stand alone and intersect, forming hybrid spaces where culture is produced through exchange. Drawing from the vertical shafts and carved topography observed in Havana’s urban blocks, the vessels shape both the massing and spatial rhythm of the project, framing an embassy defined by openness, interaction, and lived cultural diplomacy.

04 FRUIT OF THE LONDON PLANE
PROJECT IN TANDEM WITH : AMANDA FABILLI
The London Plane tree is the most abundant tree in the park, which produces seed pods consumed by the local birds. The seed pods of our intervention are inspired by both the form and function of the envisioned structure. The “hive” with various types of functional pods embedded within the walls of the structure offer speckled lighting as well as ventilation that is dynamic according to season and time of day.

ACADEMIC WORK
This project supports survivors of domestic violence through safe, empowering design. Elevated modular housing maximizes natural light, safety, and privacy while distancing residents from street-level triggers. Shared community spaces including counseling rooms, libraries, and self-help programs foster healing, and ground-level employment and small business centers promote financial independence. A central open space connects the site, encouraging freedom, movement, and a peaceful relationship with nature.

06 SKETCH TO SCULPTURE
PROJECT MENTOR : DR. DAMON BOLHASSANI
This study reconstructs da Vinci’s fragmented architectural journey to reveal how he encountered architecture, approached design, and ultimately delved into the physics of structures. It tests his findings and designs while proposing a reimagined Florence Cathedral, drawn from original sketches da Vinci might have produced after his obsessive studies of the very structure.

PROJECT IN TANDEM WITH : ISHMAM HAFIZ
This project investigates AI as a design catalyst by generating facade concepts in MidJourney, inspired by Batiment Marais, by Marcel Lambrichs, et al. These speculative outcomes were transformed into a parametric, functional facade in Rhino3DM, designed specifically for the urban environment of SoHo.

08 THE FLOATING BOX HOUSE
BUILDING STUDY
PROJECT IN TANDEM WITH : MICHAEL-MONSALVE RAMIREZ
The Floating Box House, set among Austin’s live oaks, balances mass and void through steel and glass, creating a floating effect. A buried plinth minimizes visual weight, while expansive glass walls blur indoor-outdoor boundaries, framing the oaks and skyline. The contrast of transparent glass and solid steel enhances both openness and suspension within the landscape.

09 THE ELIZABETH HOUSE
This isometric peeled view, taken from the southwestern perspective, allows for a detailed understanding of the construction of the various elements that makeup the foundation, superstructure, facade, and roofing of the Elizabeth H. Bates House- as well as speak on how they interact with one another. This view also offers a stronger understanding of how the cantilevered roof uses elementes like tapered insulation to allow for its seemingly flat construction.

10 FROM OUR HANDS TO YOURS
PROJECT MENTOR : LUZ M. DISLA
This project speaks to the unique ability of food to connect across generations and societal boundaries. My model, composed of stuffed grape leaves and pickled turnips, is a conversation pit as an ode to the conversations I have with my mother and sisters as we stand around the table preparing food with our hands, sharing recipes and stories amonst ourselves.
