أصدر شرٌف فتحى وزٌر الطٌران المدنى ،قرارا بعودة العمل بنظام السوتو اعتبارا من أول مارس 2017والذى تم إٌقافه فى أكتوبر .2016 وٌعرف نظام السوتو بإصدار تذاكر سفر تبدأ وتنتهى خارج جمهورٌة مصر العربٌة وال ٌتضمن خط سٌر الرحلة أى نقاط داخل مصر. وقال بٌان إعالمى أصدرته وزارة الطٌران ،الٌوم الثالثاء ،إنه القرار جاء نظرا لتحرٌر سعر صرف الجنٌه المصري وبالتنسٌق مع البنك المركزي المصرى. وكان وزٌر الطٌران أصدر أكتوبر الماضى ،قرارا بوقف بٌع تذاكر مصر للطٌران ،التى تبدأ وتنتهى خارج مصر بسبب استغالل شركات السٌاحة ووكالء السفر لوجود سعرٌن للدوالر فى مصر وقتها.

اجتاز مركز تدرٌب شركة مصر للطٌران تفتٌش المنظمة الدولٌة للطٌران المدنً (اإلٌكاو) وتفتٌش الوكالة األوروبٌة لسالمة الطٌران المدنً (اإلٌازا)، مؤخرا من خالل تقٌٌم معاٌٌر الجودة على البرامج واألنشطة والذي تم ً التدرٌبٌة التً تقدم داخل مركز التدرٌب للتأكد من مطابقتها للمواصفات العالمٌة. وقالت شركة (مصر للطٌران) -فً بٌان الٌوم الثالثاء -إن وفدًا من برنامج منظمة اإلٌكاو قام بالتفتٌش على المركز الذي تضمن كافة أنشطة تدرٌب الطٌارٌن والمهندسٌن وأطقم الضٌافة الجوٌة وتدرٌب الموارد البشرٌة وكذلك قاعات التدرٌس ومؤهالت المحاضرٌن ونظم االمتحانات للوقوف على مدى جودة الدورات التدرٌبٌة المقدمة وتطابقها مع معاٌٌر ومنهجٌة المنظمة. من جانبه ،أكد الطٌار محمد منار رئٌس مركز تدرٌب مصر للطٌران أن وفد المنظمة أشاد بالعملٌة التدرٌبٌة وما ٌتمتع به المركز من منظومة تدرٌب عالٌة الجودة تضاهً المستوٌات العالمٌة ،كما اجتاز المركز تفتٌش (اإلٌازا) من خالل مراجعة معاٌٌر الجودة فً البرامج التدرٌبٌة لصٌانة الطائرات على الطرازات بوٌنج ،B77, B737-800NG وكذلك الطائرة طراز "إمبراٌر" البرازٌلٌة الصنع ،والتأكد من مطابقة تلك البرامج لمواصفات ومتطلبات الطٌران المدنً األوروبً.

http://www.emaratalyoum.com طٌران اإلمارات تختبر تكنولوجٌا مبتكرة إلدارة رحالتها فً الظروف المناخٌة الشتوٌة بدأت "طٌران اإلمارات" إجراء اختبارات مٌدانٌة لتكنولوجٌا مبتكرة تدعم اتخاذ قرارات تسهم فً إدارة أفضل للعملٌات والسالمة والبٌئة فً األحوال الشتائٌة القاسٌة التً تتسبب فً اضطراب الحركة الجوٌة. وباشرت الناقلة ،بالتعاون مع شركة فٌساال Vaisalaالرائدة فً خدمات الرصد البٌئٌة والصناعٌة ومقرها فنلندا ،اختبار نظام "تشك تاٌم" CheckTimeالتخاذ القرار فً الظروف المناخٌة الشتوٌة والمستخدم فً كل من كوبنهاغن وشٌكاغو. وٌستخدم نظام CheckTimeالقٌاسات الفورٌة ،التً تسجلها أجهزة استشعار دقٌقة ،لعوامل مناخٌة عدة، مثل درجة الحرارة وسرعة الرٌاح وطبٌعة األمطار ،للمساعدة على التقدٌر الدقٌق لتأثٌر الظروف الجوٌة ومدى فعالٌة سوائل المضادة والمزٌلة للجلٌد على الطائرات ،ومن ثم نقل النتائج إلى الطٌارٌن عبر نظام ACARSالموجود على متن الطائرة .وٌم ّثل النظام بدٌالً إلجراءات ٌدوٌة ٌقوم بها الطٌارون باستخدام جداول مسبقة ورسوم بٌانٌة ومراقبة األحوال الجوٌة لتقدٌر كمٌة سوائل منع أو إزالة الجلٌد المطلوبة والحاالت المناخٌة التً توجب عدم اإلقالع. وسوف ٌتمكن طٌارو اإلمارات ،من خالل استخدام تكنولوجٌا آلٌة ودقٌقة التخاذ القرار بدالً من اإلجراءات الٌدوٌة التً تتطلب وقتا ً لتقدٌر كمٌة سوائل منع وإزالة الجلٌد المطلوبة ،من التركٌز بصورة أفضل على جوانب أساسٌة أخرى تتعلق بالسالمة والعملٌات الجوٌة عند التحضٌر لإلقالع فً أحوال جوٌة سٌئة. وقد تم اختٌار كوبنهاغن وشٌكاغو لتقٌٌم نظام CheckTimeنظراً لصعوبة األحوال الجوٌة فٌهما شتا ًء. وباإلضافة إلى ذلك ،تستخدم طٌران اإلمارات طائرات اإلٌرباص A380وطائرات البوٌنج 777لخدمة كال الوجهتٌن بشكل دائم ،ما لها الحصول على نتائج وخبرات حول أداء نظام دعم القرار CheckTimeفً فصل الشتاء على جمٌع طائرات األسطول .وسوف تستخدم طٌران اإلمارات خالل االختبارات األولٌة نظام CheckTimeإلى جانب اإلجراءات الٌدوٌة المتبعة حالٌا ً للتحقق من جدوى النتائج. وتشغل طٌران اإلمارات واحداً من أحدث األساطٌل على مستوى العالم ،وتتمٌز طائراتها ذات الهٌكل العرٌض بالكفاءة فً استهالك الوقود ،وتعمل الناقلة بشكل وثٌق مع شركائها وتستثمر فً تقنٌات تتٌح لها تقدٌم تجربة راقٌة للركاب مع األخذ فً االعتبار السالمة والحد األدنى من التأثٌرات البٌئٌة. وباإلضافة إلى مساعدة الطٌارٌن على اتخاذ قرارات أفضل فً ظروف الشتاء القاسٌةٌ ،حقق نظام دعم القرار CheckTimeفوائد بٌئٌة عدٌدة .فالتقدٌر الدقٌق لكمٌة ومستوى تركٌز سوائل إزالة الجلٌد المطلوبة تجنب إهدار كمٌات غٌر ضرورٌة. كما أن الحد من حركة مركبات إزالة الجلٌد وتقلٌل زمن تشغٌل محركات الطائرات قبٌل اإلقالع ٌحد من انبعاث الغازات الضارة ،ما ٌنعكس إٌجابا ً على البٌئة. وتواصل طٌران اإلمارات اختبار نظام دعم القرار CheckTimeفً كوبنهاغن وشٌكاغو حتى نهاٌة موسم الشتاء الحالً .وسوف تتخذ قرار توسٌع نطاق استخدامه إلى وجهات الناقلة األخرى التً ٌوجب طقسها البارد إجراءات خاصة بعد تحلٌل دقٌق وكامل لنتائج االختبار.

أجبرت الخطوط السعودٌة ،شركة كوٌتٌة متخصصة فً مجال خدمات اإلنترنت، على االعتذار لها ببٌان منشور فً ثالث صحف كوٌتٌة ،بعد زعمها أن الشركة السعودٌة تس ٌّر رحالت من الرٌاض إلى تل أبٌب. وقالت الشركة الكوٌتٌة ،فً بٌان االعتذار ،إنها تعتذر عن الخبر الكاذب الذي نشرته على موقعها اإللكترونً ،وانتقل منه إلى موقع التواصل االجتماعً "توٌتر".
تقر بنشر الخبر "المنافً للحقٌقة" ،بادعاء إطالق رحالت للخطوط وأ ّكدت أنها ّ ً معترفة بأنه احتوى معلومات ال أساس لها السعودٌة من الرٌاض إلى تل أبٌب، من الصحة ،ومن شأنها المساس بسمعة الخطوط السعودٌة. وتعهدت الشركة الكوٌتٌة بااللتزام بالقواعد المهنٌة واألخالقٌة فً تغطٌة أخبار الخطوط الجوٌة العربٌة السعودٌة واستقائها من مصدرها الرسمً.

http://www.babnet.net انطالق أول رحلة جوٌة بٌن تونس وكوناكري ٌوم 27مارس 2017 أعلن وزٌر النقل أنٌس غدٌرة ،الثالثاء ،أنه سٌتم اطالق أول رحلة جوٌة بٌن تونس وكوناكري (غٌنٌا) ٌوم 27مارس 2017بعد أن كانت مبرمجة فى سنة .2019 وأضاف الوزٌر ،خالل جلسة عامة عقدها مجلس نواب الشعب الثالثاء ،أنه سٌتم تامٌن هذا الخط بمعدل رحلتٌن اسبوعٌا. وأقر الوزٌر ،بتأخر تونس فً اإلهتمام بالسوق اإلفرٌقٌة الواعدة مقارنة ببلدان أخرى مشٌرا إلى سعً الوزارة لوضع األسس الكفٌلة بتعزٌز تواجد البالد فً هذه القارة باإلشتراك مع مختلف الوزارات. وأكد ،فً هذا الصدد ،انه تمت برمجة رحلة ٌومٌا ألبٌدجان (الكوت دٌفوار) ذهابا وإٌابا عالوة على تكثٌف الرحالت باتجاه السنغال بمعدل ست رحالت فً األسبوع مقابل أربع رحالت سابقا وفتح خطٌن مع كوتونو (البنٌن) و(لومً) الطوغو موفى 2017وربطهما بخط أبٌدجان. كما تم فتح خط جوي مع غواال (الكامرون) وربطه بخطوط جدٌدة فً كل من لٌبروفٌل (الغابون) وجامٌنا (تشاد) الى جانب اطالق خط تونس الخرطوم وربطه بأدٌس أبابا ونٌروبً ،حسب غدٌرة. وعزا تأخر انطالق الرحالت الجوٌة على متن الخطوط السرٌعة الى وضعٌة االسطول ذلك أن شركة الخطوط الداخلٌة تمتلك ثالث طائرات صغٌرة مهترئة وتتطلب صٌانة دورٌة مشٌرا إلى إمكانٌة كراء طائرات جدٌدة لتأمٌن نقل المسافرٌن فً الموسم الصٌفً القادم وخاصة المتجهٌن الى جربة. وأوضح غدٌرة تراجع حركة النقل الجوي فً سنة 2016بنسبة 40بالمائة مقارنة بسنة 2010مشٌرا إلى أن الهجمات االرهابٌة وتأزم المجال السٌاحً مع انخفاض توافد السٌاح أدى الى هذه النتٌجة. والحظ الوزٌر وجود بوادر لتحسن الوضع وتزاٌد الطلبات لتشغٌل المطارات الداخلٌة على غرار مطار طبرقة. وبالنسبة للرحالت اللٌبٌة ،أفاد الوزٌر انه تم لدواعً أمنٌة وقف ارسال الناقالت التونسٌة نحو هذه الوجهة مع ابقاء األجواء التونسٌة مفتوحة أمام الشركات اللٌبٌة لتأمٌن رحالتها نحو تونس عبر مطاري صفاقس وجربة فً مرحلة أولى. ولفت ،أنه بطلب من الشركات اللٌبٌة ،تم فتح مطار تونس قرطاج لتأمٌن رحالت مباشرة مضٌفا ان 40بالمائة من المسافرٌن اللٌبٌٌن ٌخٌرون التوقف فً هذا المطار قبل مواصلة رحالتهم والتوجه لبلدان أخرى وخاصة األوروبٌة منها. وأكد غدٌرة أن الوزارة ستركز جهودها نحو فك العزلة عن المناطق الداخلٌة سٌما وأن أكثر من 45بالمائة من مٌزانٌة الوزارة مخصصة لمشارٌع السكك الحدٌدٌة والمترو الخفٌف بصفاقس.

http://www.alwatan.com.sa اكتمال االستعدادات بمطار عاصمة السٌاحة العربٌة 2017 أبها :نجالء صالح الدٌن تجاوزت أعداد المسافرٌن من مطار أبها اإلقلٌمً خالل عام ،2016أكثر من 3.7مالٌٌن مسافر ،وسط توقعات بأن ٌشهد العام الحالً ،2017ارتفاع تعداد المسافرٌن فً ظل احتفاالت أبها بلقب عاصمة السٌاحة العربٌة .وأشار مدٌر العالقات العامة بالمطارات الجنوبٌة سالم األسمري ،إلى أن أعداد المسافرٌن داخلٌا ودولٌا بلغت 3.725.713مسافرا ،بزٌادة أكبر عن األعوام السابقة ،إذ بلغ عدد الرحالت 32794رحلة دولٌة وداخلٌة ،وزٌادة عدد خطوط الطٌران إلى 8خطوط طٌران محلٌة وأجنبٌة. عاصمة السٌاحة كشف األسمري أنه فً اطار االستعداد لمناسبة اختٌار أبها عاصمة السٌاحة العربٌة ،تم إنشاء صالة مغادرة دولٌة تسع 360مقعدا ،وتوسعة صالة المغادرة الداخلٌة بإضافة 300مقعد، إضافة إلى توسعة صالة إنهاء إجراءات السفر بمقدار 20مساحة إضافٌة ،وإنشاء مبنى خارجً لمبٌعات التذاكر ومكاتب إٌجار السٌارات ،وتم توفٌر سٌر عفش إضافً فً صالة القدوم الداخلً ،وتوسعة صالة القدوم الداخلٌة بنسبة ،%100وكذلك إنشاء صالة قدوم دولٌة جدٌدة تسع 360مسافرا. تحدٌث األنظمة األسمري أكد استمرارٌة أعمال التطوٌر والتحدٌث فً المطار ،إذ سٌتم تحدٌث أنظمة التكٌٌف فً الصاالت ونظام السنترال المركزي ،وتركٌب لوحات إرشادٌة مضاءة ،إضافة إلى تطوٌر أنظمة إنذار الحرٌق ،وتطوٌر إضاءة الصاالت إلى LED. وكشف عن افتتاح أول فروع لمشارٌع استثمارٌة ،إضافة إلى المبٌعات الجوٌة ،فضال عن جهود لتنفٌذ جدارٌات مواكبة لمناسبة أبها عاصمة السٌاحة وعدد من الفعالٌات. مراحل التطوٌر ٌذكر أن مشروع تطوٌر المطار ٌنقسم إلى 3مراحل ،تنتهً المرحلة األولى عام ،2018بطاقة استٌعابٌة تصل إلى 7مالٌٌن مسافر ،وعلى جسور تصل بٌن الصاالت والطائرات بعدد 11 جسرا للركاب ،ومواقف سٌارات بسعة 3000سٌارة ،بٌنما ستزٌد السعة االستٌعابٌة للمطار فً مرحلته الثانٌة لتصل إلى 9مالٌٌن مسافر ،وعلى جسور تصل بٌن الصاالت والطائرات بعدد 24 جسرا للركاب ،ومواقف سٌارات بسعة 6000سٌارة ،وستصل الطاقة االستٌعابٌة للمطار بشكله النهائً مع المرحلة الثالثة 13ملٌون مسافر سنوٌا وبعدد 36جسرا للركاب ،وتزداد الطاقة االستٌعابٌة لمواقف السٌارات لتكون بسعة 10000سٌارة.

أكدت مصادر بالسفارة الٌمنٌة بالعاصمة المصرٌة القاهرة ،أن الخطوط الجوٌة الٌمنٌة استأنفت رحالتها إلى عدن. وأشارت المصادر فً تصرٌحات صحفٌة إلى أن استئناف الرحالت بٌن القاهرة وعدن جاء بعد توقفها فً وقت سابق من الشهر الجاري، نتٌجة التوتر األمنً الذي وقع حول مطار عن الدولً ،واضطرت على إثره شركة طٌران الٌمنٌة لتعلٌق رحالتها من القاهرة إلى مطار عدن الدولً.

http://www.alborsanews.com شركات طٌران أوروبٌة تطالب بقانون صارم ضد الناقالت الخلٌجٌة طالبت الناقلتان الوطنٌتان الفرنسٌة واأللمانٌة المفوضٌة األوروبٌة بمواجهة ما تقوالن إنها ممارسات غٌر عادلة لشركات الطٌران الخلٌجٌة فً مسعى للتأثٌر على سن قانون جدٌد لالتحاد األوروبً. وكتب الرئٌسان التنفٌذٌان لشركتً لوفتهانزا واٌر فرانس-كٌه.ال.ام إلى مفوضة النقل باالتحاد األوروبً فٌولٌتا بولك ٌطالبان المفوضٌة بتعرٌف الممارسات التً تعد انتهاكا للمنافسة مع فرض قٌود على حقوق النقل كعقوبة. وقال الرئٌسان التنفٌذٌان فً الرسالة “التوسع الموازي المذهل فً سرعته للناقالت الخلٌجٌة فً أوروبا ألكثر من عشر سنوات ألحق ضررا بالغا بالناقالت األوروبٌة”. مزاٌا للمستهلكٌن وأضاف “عدم التحرك سٌنم عن قصر نظر :المزاٌا قصٌرة األجل للمستهلكٌن األوروبٌٌن فً صورة أسعار منخفضة ستستمر فقط لحٌن إخراج شركات الطٌران األوروبٌة من السوق بدرجة كبٌرة”. وتأثرت شركات الطٌران األوروبٌة الشهٌرة سلبا بالنمو السرٌع لشركات الطٌران الخلٌجٌة الرئٌسٌة ،طٌران اإلمارات والخطوط الجوٌة القطرٌة واالتحاد للطٌران وبتحول حركة النقل صوب آسٌا. وتتهم الشركات األوروبٌة ،شركات الطٌران الخلٌجٌة مرارا بتلقً دعم حكومً بالمخالفة للقانون – وهو ما تنفٌه الشركات – وٌطالبون االتحاد األوروبً ببذل المزٌد لمعالجة هذا التحدي. منافسة غٌر عادلة وبدأت لوفتهانزا التعاون مع االتحاد التً مقرها أبوظبً ،لكن تهمة المنافسة غٌر العادلة لم تزل قائمة مع قول كارستن سبور الرئٌس التنفٌذي للوفتهانزا مجددا فً وقت سابق هذا الشهر إنه ٌرفض الدعم بٌنما كان ٌوقع اتفاق تموٌن ومشروع صٌانة مع االتحاد. وقالت الرسالة إن لوفنهانزا واٌر فرانس وكٌه.ال.ام وطٌران بروكسل والخطوط الجوٌة النمساوٌة ألغت معا تسٌٌر رحالت إلى أكثر من 30وجهة فً الشرق األوسط وآسٌا والهند فً السنوات األخٌرة. وتعكف المفوضٌة على قانون سٌمكنها من فرض رسوم على شركات الطٌران من خارج االتحاد األوروبً أو تعلٌق حقوق رحالتها إذا خلصت إلى أنها أضرت بالشركات األوروبٌة عن طرٌق دعم غٌر عادل أو ممارسات تمٌٌزٌة حسبما أفادت مسودة. الدعم الحكومً وطلبت لوفتهانزا واٌر فرانس-كٌه.ال.ام من المفوضٌة العمل على أن تسفر محادثات اتفاق للخدمات الجوٌة مع قطر عن خفض الدعم الحكومً وزٌادة الشفافٌة المالٌة. وكتب المسؤوالن التنفٌذٌان “فً الوقت الذي تعرض فٌه المفوضٌة األوروبٌة اتفاقا جدٌدا للخدمات الجوٌة لالتحاد األوروبً ككل على دولة قطر فإن ذلك ٌنبغً أن ٌتضمن صراحة ضرورة تقلٌص ممارسات المنافسة غٌر العادلة والدعم”. وكانت المفضوٌة حصلت على تفوٌض من الدول األعضاء للتفاوض على اتفاقً خدمات جوٌة مع قطر واإلمارات العام الماضً ،وحتى اآلن لم تبدأ المحادثات إال مع قطر. وتحدد مثل تلك االتفاقات أٌن تستطٌع شركات الطٌران األجنبٌة تسٌٌر رحالت إلى االتحاد األوروبً ومعدالت ذلك.

In November of 2016 the carrier‘s Ethiopian Aviation Academy – which is the largest aviation academy in Africa – graduated 322 aviation professionals including 47 pilots, 92 aviation maintenance technicians and 50 cabin crew members. The Johannesburg office will be headed by Joao Miguel Santos, Boeing‘s managing director for sub-Saharan Africa, while Chamsou Andjorin, the company‘s director of government affairs and market development, will be based in the Nairobi office. The aerospace giant has been looking to expand its businesses in Africa through investments in biofuels, training and manufacturing. Boeing already has a presence in the two African nations, but the additional two operations will aid in meeting aircraft demand in Africa, with an estimated 1,150 new aeroplanes required on the continent by 2035, according to Santos. ”Africa is not new territory for Boeing,“ he said. ”Since the introduction of the jet airplane, Boeing aircraft have formed the backbone of the continent‘s commercial fleet and Boeing continues to be one of the largest U.S.-based companies doing business on the continent.“ ”The aerospace industry needs to start paying closer attention to Africa, because this continent is clearly on the move economically and all the trends are pointing in the right direction for the expansion of the sector. Our job is to be ahead in understanding these emerging trends and opportunities,“ Santos added. Boeing‘s most recent Current Market Outlook report forecasts that air traffic to and from Africa is expected to grow by about 6.1% annually over the next 18 years. http://allafrica.com Kenyan Budget Airline Seeks Licences to 11 African Countries Kenya's low-cost airline Jambojet has applied for licences to fly to destinations in 11 African countries in renewed efforts to expand operations beyond the country. The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) had last year denied Jambojet a licence for international flights. The carrier, however, now says that it has proven its mettle locally and is ready for the regional market. "For us this is the next step because we have established ourselves in Kenya already," said Jambojet chief executive Willem Hondius in an interview. The company wants to fly to Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, and Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and serve two destinations in Malawi-- Blantyre and Lilongwe. The airline is also seeking approvals to fly to Uganda, Ethiopia, Somalia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Jambojet's parent company and national carrier Kenya Airways already serves most of these destinations. Mr Hondius said in the interview that it had not yet been decided whether the two airlines would reach a code-sharing agreement to serve these routes. Fleet expansion According to a Kenya Gazette notice by the aviation regulator on Friday, Jambojet is also seeking to expand its domestic routes. The airline currently serves six destinations from its Nairobi hub -- Eldoret, Kisumu, Lamu, Malindi, Mombasa and Ukunda. The airline wants to add Vipingo, Wajir and Garissa to its network. Jambojet is hoping to fly to some of these new routes in the second half of the year. The new routes, Mr Hondius said, will require an expansion of its fleet of aircraft. Apology The airline is currently recovering from a crisis that left customers stranded amid flight cancellations and delays during the last December holiday season. Mr Hondius wrote to customers last week apologising for the delays and promising that new aircraft would increase operational efficiency. Jambojet has since ordered new aircraft to replace an older plane on its fleet. The company has also said that it will buy one more plane by August 2017. The airline operates two Q400s and two Boeing 737s. Jambojet was launched in April 2014. In its second year of operation, the company reported a profit of Ksh126 million ($1.26 million) after recording a loss of Ksh287 million ($2.9 million) in 2015. http://aaco.org Oman Air boosts fleet with new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner Oman Air, continues its ambitious expansion plans in 2017 with three new additions to the fleet already this year. The latest aircraft is the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner which joined the fleet on 23rd February 2017; this is in addition to the two new 737-800s which were added to the fleet in 2017. The widebody Boeing 787-9 is a stretched version of the advanced long-range twin engine B787-8. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft is configured with 30 flatbed Business Class suites, designed by BE Aerospace and 258 Economy Class seats. All classes feature Thales Integrated In-Flight Entertainment System which provides an even more enjoyable guest experience, allowing access to a wide selection of on-demand entertainment delivered through a passenger experience interface developed specifically with Oman Air. Oman Air operates five Boeing 787 Dreamliners aircraft. This aircraft will be utilised on Oman Air‘s European and FarEastern sectors. A second new Boeing 787 Dreamliner will be joining Oman Air‘s fleet in April 2017. The delivery of new aircraft is part of Oman Air‘s ambitious and dynamic program of fleet and network expansion. Oman Air is continuing to invest in providing guests with the best possible on board experience. To complement the new additions to the fleet, the airline has recently invested in the renovation of its three A330-300 aircraft First Class cabin. The fleet currently consists of five Boeing 787 Dreamliners, six Airbus 330-300s, four Airbus 330-200s, five Boeing 737900s, 25 Boeing 737-800, one Boeing 737-700 and four Embraer 175s.

http://www.premiumtimesng.com Turkish Airlines flight cancelled after passengers protested non-functional air conditioning A Turkish airline TK0626 flight from Lagos to Istanbul scheduled for Monday was cancelled as passengers refused to travel due to the plane‘s faulty air conditioning system. The passengers had already boarded and were set to take off when they realised the problem with the cooling system. The pilot and crew of the flight, however, insisted on flying, PREMIUM TIMES learnt. Richard Olatunji, one of the passengers on board, said the plane was taxing at about 1:30 a.m. when the faulty air conditioner was discovered. ”Here is hot and the crew is insisting on flying despite our protest. In fact one of the passengers has fainted and the crew was doing resuscitation on her in the plane and still insisted on flying. The pilot even said if we came down then we forfeit our money,“ Mr. Olatunji told PREMIUM TIMES at about 1:30 a.m. ”Our clothes were drenched, they were working on the plane with us inside for about two hours and they said they have to close the door of the air craft to test if it was working or not and there was child in the plane. ”The air craft we boarded was nothing near cold, it was very hot when we came in which ought not to be so, that means they knew beforehand that there was something wrong with the plane, he said. The delayed flight which was meant to leave the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos, at around 10:45 p.m. was eventually cancelled when the passengers started protesting on board. The reporter could hear noise of the protesting passengers as at the time of the call. The Nigerian manager in charge of the Turkish Airline flight later addressed the passengers after they returned to the airport. He admitted that the management knew the air conditioning system was faulty and had gotten technicians to carry out repairs. He said the pilot and crew only wanted to test run the plane with the passengers in it and had no intention of flying. He said there would have been no problem if the plane had flown because the fault was not a mechanical one. The passengers were later transported to the Golden Tulip hotel in Festac at about 4 a.m.by the airline. They were yet to get any feedback from the airline at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

Agree to board last? Go on the Whole30 diet to lighten the load and help reduce fuel costs? Airlines are betting that passengers will agree to all but one of those capitulations to save some money. Until recently, only the scrappy outliers Spirit and Frontier offered the plucked-chicken pricing model. Passengers pay a cheap fare for a space on the plane but can tack on such feathers as carry-on bags and preferred seating for additional fees. Last week, two of the major airlines joined the stripped-down flock. COUNT THE NOPES After several months of anticipation, American and United have introduced the Basic Economy category in select markets. United is initially offering the main cabin fare between Minneapolis and these seven airports: Chicago O‘Hare, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco and Washington Dulles, for travel starting April 18. On American, the option appears on a mix-and-match of routes featuring Charlotte, Orlando, Dallas-Fort Worth, Philadelphia, Miami, Tampa, New Orleans, Fort Lauderdale and Baltimore-Washington International, for travel starting March 1. (About two years ago, Delta rolled out a similar fare, but without the second-bag surrender.) To nab the lowest price, you will have to divest yourself of the typical comforts. (Some exemptions apply to members of frequent-flier programs who have achieved a certain status level.) Among the nopes: No seat assignment until after check-in or at the gate; no same-day ticket changes; no refunds after the 24-hour cancellation period; no upgrades; and no bags that require storage overhead. Also, no need to sprint to the gate: You are boarding with the last group. However, once on board, Basic Economists receive the usual in-flight treatment of free drinks, snacks, entertainment and WiFi. The personal item at your feet will remind you of your purchasing decision. The new fare is a cause for celebration among ascetic travelers but may baffle more entitled types who want to have their cheap cake and eat it, too. To help make an informed decision, we planned an imaginary trip to compare the fare differences. Interestingly, both airlines have added another step in the booking process. After plugging in the destinations and dates and choosing Basic Economy, a page pops up detailing the restrictions and, in American‘s case, asks, ”Are you sure?“ Perhaps it could sense the uncertainty in our key strokes. BAG FEES PACK A WALLOP For United, we faux-booked an early May flight from Dulles to Minneapolis. The lowest Basic Economy fare was $244 round trip. By comparison, the lowest Economy fare was $284. On Spirit, the lowest fare from BWI to the Twin Cities is $158. Spirit‘s carry-on fee ranges from $35 to $100, depending on the time of payment. Arrive with a second bag on United and the airline will charge you a $25 checked bag fee plus a $25 handling charge. For American, we pretend-reserved a May flight from Philadelphia to Fort Lauderdale. Basic Economy started at $154; the Main Cabin was from $194. Spirit charges from $106, plus the aforementioned baggage fee. United penalizes second bags with a $50 fee. So, Class, what did we learn? Spirit has the lowest fares, but that‘s no surprise to travelers accustomed to repeat sock wearings. But for passengers who prefer the more robust service of the legacy airlines, Basic Economy might not be worth it if you have to check more bags or if the suffering outweighs the nominal savings. However, if you can pocket a significant amount of cash, you can travel like Hobo Snoopy but enjoy the destination like Richie Rich.
