بدأت شركة مصر للطٌران ،وضع شعار بطولة كأس األمم االفرٌقٌة مصر 2019على طائراتها ،احتفاالً بهذه المناسبة فً إطار حملتها التسوٌقٌة والدعائٌة التً بدأتها كونها الناقل الرسمً للبطولة. وقالت مصادر مطلعة بالشركة ،إن وضع شعار البطولة مع قرب انطالقها خالل األٌام القادمة ٌأتً وفقا لخطة الدعاٌة التً تنفذها الشركة ،حٌث تقلع طائراتها الً مختلف مطارات العالم وٌراها جمٌع الركاب بالمطارات مما ٌمثل دعاٌة كبٌر لتنظٌم مصر للبطولة األفرٌقٌة.

طٌران عمان تعلن إجراء محادثات مع إٌرباص إذا لم تقدم بوٌنج خطة دعم لماكس 737
قال بٌان لشركة الطٌران العمانى الٌوم الجمعة إن الرئٌس التنفٌذى للشركة عبد العزٌز الرئٌسى ٌعتزم إجراء محادثات مع إٌرباص إذا لم تقدم بوٌنج خطة دعم وإصالح لطائراتها ماكس 737الممنوعة من التحلٌق قبل 17 ٌونٌو. ونقل البٌان عن الرئٌسى قوله "منع تحلٌق طائرات 737ماكس كان له أثر مالى كبٌر على الطٌران العمانً" ،وأضاف "خطط شركة الطٌران التوسعٌة لعام 2019تقلصت بشدة" كما عانت الطٌران العمانى "أٌضا من خسائر فى اإلٌرادات وانخفاض الحصة السوقٌة". وقال الرئٌس التنفٌذى للطٌران العمانى إن بوٌنج "وعدت بتقدٌم خطة إصالح ودعم للطٌران العمانى قبل معرض جوى فى بارٌس ٌبدأ فى ٌ 17ونٌو (حزٌران) ، "2019ونقل بٌان الطٌران العمانى عن الرئٌسى قوله "إذا لم أتلق ردا من بوٌنج قبل وصولى إلى مطار لو بورجٌه ،سٌتعٌن على المضى قدما فى غداء العمل المزمع مع إٌرباص فى المعرض".

flydubai inaugurates its flights to Naples
flydubai inaugurated its flights to Naples (NAP) becoming the first national carrier for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to offer direct flights from Dubai. With up to five flights a week, Naples becomes flydubai‟s second destination in Italy after it launched flights to Sicily‟s Catania last year. Emirates will codeshare on this route and for bookings under the codeshare, Emirates passengers will receive complimentary meals and the Emirates checked baggage allowance on flights operated by flydubai in Business and Economy class.

(1) ICAO and IATA launch new legal guidance on management of unruly air passengers
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Secretary General, Dr. Fang Liu, and the Director General and CEO of International Air Transport Association (IATA), Alexandre de Juniac, have officially launched new ICAO legal guidance on the management of unruly and disruptive passengers. The new ICAO Manual on the Legal Aspects of Unruly and Disruptive Passengers (Doc 10117) is a key result emerging from the adoption of the Protocol to Amend the Convention on Offences and Certain Other Acts Committed on Board Aircraft (Montréal Protocol of 2014). Its chief aim is to assist national governments in legislating appropriate and better harmonized legal measures to prevent and deal with unruly and disruptive passenger incidents on international flights. “Unruly and disruptive passenger conduct can pose distinct threats to the safety and security of aircraft, flight crew and passengers,” commented Dr. Liu. “It can also generate costly disruptions to airlines and passengers alike in situations when aircraft must be diverted to manage these incidents.” “Enhancing safety is the shared goal for governments and airlines, and deterring unruly and disruptive behavior on flights is key to this,” Mr. de Juniac said. “IATA welcomes today‟s new ICAO guidance, which is intended to help governments address unruly passengers under their own national law. It covers many practical measures for consideration by policymakers, including „on the spot‟ fines to boost enforcement action.”
(2) The launch ceremony for the new guidance, which took place on 7 June 2019, was attended by Mr. Michael Comber, Director, Member and External Relations, ICAO Affairs; Dr. Jiefang Huang, Director of the ICAO Legal Affairs and External Relations Bureau; Mr. John Thachet, Chairperson of the ICAO Task Force on Legal Aspects of Unruly Passengers; and Mr. Andrew Opolot, Secretary of the Task Force and ICAO Legal Officer. The Manual‟s publication is also expected to encourage more States to ratify the Montréal Protocol of 2014. With the recent deposit on 5 June of the instrument of ratification by Uruguay, the Protocol requires two more countries to formalize their ratification before its official entry into force.

Executives and other staff will join American pilots on flights as soon as regulators certify that the Max is cleared for travel, and before Sept. 4, which is the earliest date commercial trips will resume, American Chief Executive Officer Doug Parker said at the carrier‟s annual shareholder meeting Wednesday. The Max has been grounded worldwide since March 13, after two fatal crashes within five months. Airlines have been crafting strategies to convince travelers the Max is safe now that Boeing has improved software for a flight-control system that malfunctioned in the accidents and bolstered the fixes with new pilot training. U.S. safety regulators have said they‟ve set no time frame for signing off on Boeing‟s proposed repairs for the jet. “We‟d like to get it flying again so when customers get on it, they realize it‟s been flying potentially for weeks,” said Ross Feinstein, a spokesman for American. Airline executives, managers, flight attendants and other employees could be among those aboard, he said. American earlier this month tacked two weeks onto the time the Max will remain off of its schedule, extending its absence through Sept. 3. The change was made to accommodate crew scheduling needs, and doesn‟t mean the airline doubts the Max will be approved to resume flights earlier, Parker said. “We wouldn‟t be selling seats today if we didn‟t think it was a highly likely possibility that the aircraft will be flying by Sept. 3,” the CEO said. The first post-approval flights, which will include those needed to shift some grounded planes from storage in Roswell, New Mexico, to American‟s maintenance base in Tulsa, Oklahoma, can also be used as a refresher for pilots whose training has been updated. “Once you see pilots from American, Southwest and United saying they‟re taking the plane up because it‟s safe to fly, it will be,” Parker said. “They are exceptionally well trained, they are safety professionals.” United Continental Holdings Inc. has removed the Max from its flight schedule through Aug. 3, while Southwest, the biggest Max operator, has set Aug. 5 for its return.

Like Singapore, every seat in Emirates comes with inflight entertainment and in-seat power, as well as a drink holder for those interested in trivial design features. Emirates also boasts free WiFi and mobile phone connectivity on all flights. Which is best? Bottom line, both of these airlines are excellent and nearly match each others features head to head. They both serve great food, have awesome entertainment and fly through world-renowned hubs. But one airline comes out slightly ahead.

According to TripAdvisor, Emirates has more movies and TV shows than Singapore. Whilst both airlines have the latest movies, only Emirates has an extensive back catalog that can sate any film buff‟s appetite. It‟s also worth mentioning that on the Boeing 777, Singapore has opted for nine seats across in economy. Emirates is pushing ten seats (affectionately known as sardine cans). However, when it comes to prices, this author struggled to find a day in which Singapore was cheaper than Emirates, on a Sydney to London roundtrip.

Singapore was typical $200 USD more than Emirates, for the same class and on the same route. The early history of Ansett Ansett Australia‟s early days are mostly remembered from the time they acquired ANA – Australian National Airways. At the time, this made Ansett Australia‟s largest carrier and soon they were on their way to prosperity. In the early days of turboprops, it wasn‟t uncommon for ridiculously long travel times and unreliable engines. Then, in the 1960s, Ansett introduced the Boeing 727 and DC-9s. The era of turboprops had ended in favor of the jet age. These new jet aircraft made air travel more stable and reliable. Prior to the early 90s, Australia‟s aviation market was heavily regulated by the government. The two-airline policy which granted only two airlines to operate flights on most routes ensured that Ansett Australia would be a significant force. Ansett in the 1990s By the 1990s, Ansett was operating comparatively modern aircraft. This included Boeing 737 Classic series aircraft, Boeing 767s, and Airbus A320s. In 1990, Australian airline deregulation occurred. After this, Ansett made some severely consequential decisions. One one hand, Ansett launched Australia‟s first frequent flyer program and began their own international flights. Meanwhile, Ansett lobbied heavily to become the official airline for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.

Essentially, Ansett was doing everything major airlines do today in an effort to boost loyalty, passenger numbers, and profits. Many airlines from Delta Air Lines to British Airways have taken similar actions which ended up well for them. So, where did Ansett go wrong? Air New Zealand steps in In 1996, Air New Zealand purchased a 50% stake in Ansett Australia. Outside airlines typically invest in foreign carriers as a way to build up alliances and profits. This has is also something common in today‟s world. For some airlines, like Qatar, this works. For others, like Etihad, it fails. Air New Zealand wanted a piece of Australia‟s aviation market. This is understandable since the ties between New Zealand and Australia run deep. As a result, Air New Zealand, with an Ansett partnership, could essentially funnel passengers from far-reaching destinations to Australia and vice versa through New Zealand. Ansett itself did not operate a significant number of long-haul international routes. Thus, they were a perfect target for Air New Zealand.

In an interview with the Australian, former Ansett Australia executive Rod Eddington said,
“Air New Zealand trumped the $500 million Singapore Airlines bid, putting up $680m for half of Ansett. The 767s highlighted the problem with Ansett‟s fleet: it was old. However, the airline was losing a lot of money. Reporting by The Guardian in the days after Ansett‟s collapse indicate Ansett was losing as much as $1.3 million per day.

On the full-service side, Qantas was a major force, and would soon become the premier airline of Australia. Virgin Blue, now known as Virgin Australia, was one of the first new competitors to emerge in 2000 as a low-cost carrier. After Ansett‟s collapse, Virgin Australia grew enormously and emerged as Qantas‟ leading competitor.
(6) The end Air New Zealand couldn‟t sustain Ansett Australia. They themselves had to receive government support in order to stay afloat. This came with a hefty price to pay: letting Ansett collapse. Air New Zealand placed Ansett Australia into administration and the Australian government refused to bail out the failing airline. It was determined that Ansett could no longer be a sustainable business, and, on September 14th, 2001, the airline ceased operations. Ansett briefly returned to the sky with a small fleet and simple operations. However, this resurrection soon came to end due to a lack of sufficient financing and heavyweight support in early 2002. Ansett‟s aircraft were returned to lessors and found new homes. Some of their 747s ended up with Air Pacific which later became Fiji Airways. Other aircraft were scrapped.

The post-Ansett world Ansett‟s collapse allowed a new competitor to emerge against Qantas: Virgin Australia. And, ten years after Ansett‟s collapse, CAPA released a report indicating that, despite Ansett‟s collapse, Australia‟s aviation industry continued to grow. Although some growth slowed as a result of the 9/11 attacks, the market bounced back and continued to grow. Ansett‟s collapse was felt across Australia. Thousands of people lost their jobs. Blame went around from the Australian government to Air New Zealand. Ultimately, even if Ansett had survived beyond 2001, they would have faced a difficult future. With the world rattled by 9/11, the struggling carrier likely wouldn‟t have fared well against other, more stable carriers. Furthermore, had Air New Zealand continued to invest in Ansett, it is likely that both airlines would have collapsed leaving a major void in the South Pacific aviation market. ia.
(7) Today, Ansett lives on as a memory. Having ceased operations less than 20 years ago, a fair number of Australians and avgeeks still have fond memories of the airline.
