ALUMNA VISIT

We were delighted to welcome alumna Freya W back to school. Freya inspired all our pupils in assembly by sharing her personal journey and the incredible challenge she is taking on later this year in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust, the charity she is supporting as part of her trek up Mount Kilimanjaro next August. Funds raised will help provide vital specialist care, emotional support and practical help for young people facing cancer.

We will be holding a mufti day to support Freya’s fundraising and look forward to hearing all about her expedition in the months ahead.

If you would like to support her cause please click here to visit her Just Giving page!

Our Year 11 girls had a fantastic time at Poetry Live this week! This invaluable experience gave them the chance to hear the renowned poets they have been studying bring their work to life. They also attended insightful sessions with AQA Chief Examiners, gaining key tips on tackling unseen poetry and comparing poems for their upcoming GCSE English Literature exams.

A truly inspiring and enriching day for all!

A WONDERFUL WEEKEND FOR OUR BOARDERS

Our boarders enjoyed a truly lovely weekend filled with fun, friendship, and a touch of adventure. On Saturday, the girls spent the entire day in London, beginning with lunch and shopping before heading to the theatre to enjoy a fantastic show. “It was so nice having a whole day in London with my friends,”and “The show was amazing and shopping beforehand made it even better.” were some lovely comments we had.

Sunday was a more relaxed pace but just as enjoyable. After church and a trip to Sainsbury’s, the girls headed out for an evening of bowling, where there was plenty of laughter and friendly competition late into the evening “The bowling was definitely my favourite part of the weekend,” said another boarder. “We laughed so much and it was great staying out late together.”

Some girls enjoyed sleepovers at friends’ houses, while others opted for a quieter Sunday, popping into Dorking for a coffee and a catch-up. “It felt like a perfect mix of busy and relaxing,” one pupil told us.“Everyone did something they enjoyed.”

Overall, it was a weekend full of smiles, shared experiences, and happy memories thoroughly enjoyed by all.

DANCE CLUB

We visited the girls taking part in the Dance Squad this week to see the fantastic moves they’ve been learning. Dance Squad takes place on Wednesdays at lunchtime for Years 7–9 and is just one of the many extra-curricular clubs running around the school. A Reading from the Gospel of Matthew

While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Immediately they left their nets and followed him. And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them. Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.

Reflection

In the story this week we are reminded of how Jesus calls His first disciples Calling ordinary people to do extraordinary things On Saturday 31 January the Church celebrates the life of St John Bosco. Saint John Bosco (1815–1888) was an Italian priest, educator, and founder of the Salesians, known for his compassionate work with disadvantaged youth Using a gentle, encouraging approach, he focused on reason, religion, and kindness rather than punishment. Bosco created schools, workshops, and homes that offered not only shelter but also practical skills and spiritual guidance His legacy continues through the global Salesian family, dedicated to helping young people grow in dignity, faith, and opportunity.

Prayer

Thanks be to you, Lord Jesus Christ, for all the benefit which you have given me; for all the pains and insults which you have borne for me. O most merciful Redeemer, friend and brother, may I know you more clearly, love you more dearly, and follow you more nearly, day by day, Amen.
