This Week’s Headlines:

This week, we have successfully navigated the challenges of exceptionally hot weather, with a range of adaptations in place to keep pupils comfortable and learning effectively. Thank you to our staff and pupils for their resilience and positive approach.

Despite the heat, it has been another busy and rewarding week. Year 12 Biology and Year 9 Geography pupils enjoyed valuable field trips that brought their classroom learning to life. We were also proud to host the EST Senior Public Speaking competition, where pupils demonstrated confidence, eloquence and impressive critical thinking.

Last Saturday’s Sports Day was a fantastic celebration of participation, teamwork and determination, while this week’s Year 11 Ball provided a memorable opportunity to mark the end of an important chapter for our pupils. BOARDING

The girls made the most of their weekend with trips to London on Saturday and Sunday, followed by a lovely visit to Kingston with staff. Safe to say, for this group, shopping is always high on the agenda especially as it was one of their final trips of the year

Alongside this, we ’ ve been celebrating National Boarding Week with plenty of energy and enthusiasm, while also beginning the big pack-up as girls gradually head off for the summer holidays. There’s a real sense of excitement (and a little bit of nostalgia) as the house slowly starts to empty.

Next weekend will be full of emotion as we say goodbye to the girls and come together for our end-of-term party

SILVER DofE EXPEDITION

On Friday last week, 5 groups of girls travelled to the Black Mountains in the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales to complete their Silver Duke of Edinburgh expedition Students hiked, navigated and cooked for two nights and three days, making memories and learning lessons that will last a lifetime The girls exercised qualities of compassion, teamwork, collaboration and resilience in order to help them conquer the highs and lows of the weekend with smiles on their faces Special thank yous go to Mr Norris, Mr Tindall and Mr Gill for giving up their weekends to support the students on their expeditions

YEAR 12 LEARNING WALK

On Monday Year 12 set off on a Pilgrimage across the Surrey Hills. Through Prayer, activities and reflections pupils gained a greater sense of the Wonder of God. It was also through just being together and in walking in nature, in allowing ourselves to take a pause from modern life that we gained strength. Along the way we found laughter, fun and some struggles, yet Christ walked alongside us. Well done Year 12, we did it!

SPORTS DAY

YEAR 12 BIOLOGY TRIP

The year 12 biologist headed to Slapton Ley in Devon this week to complete their practical endorsements. They all worked very hard learning about succession and different habitat diversity. They completed their own ecology investigations and also managed to squeeze in ice creams and a beach bonfire.

YEAR 7 MATHS CHALLENGE

On Tuesday afternoon, our standout mathematicians from across the Trust came together to compete in a fun, friendly and collaborative event. Working in mixed-school teams, they tackled a wide range of challenging problems, explored the auditorium in search of additional tasks, and demonstrated excellent teamwork throughout. The afternoon culminated in the crowning of a winning team, making it an enjoyable, competitive and engaging experience for all involved.

EVENSONG

It was a pleasure to welcome members of our school, alumnae, ex-staff, and neighbours to our Community Tea & Evensong event in the Chapel.

Following refreshments and cakes made by our pupils and Mrs Linaker, guests enjoyed a beautiful Evensong service accompanied by performances from our talented choir and gave us an opportunity to bid farewell to Mrs Yalden our Music Director.

Fear Not

“So have no fear of them, for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul Rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. And even the hairs of your head are all numbered Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows ”

Ref lection

In this passage, Jesus speaks directly to the human heart: “Do not be afraid.” Three times He repeats this message, as if knowing how deeply fear can take root within us We fear rejection, suffering, misunderstanding, and even loss Yet Christ calls us to a different way a life grounded not in fear, but in trust. We all face fears, anxieties, and worries; it is part of our human experience But faith is the remedy. Knowing that Jesus is with us and that He loves us can give us the peace we need

Prayer

Heavenly Father, You know us completely and love us without measure. You see every detail of our lives, and You hold us gently in Your care.

When we are afraid, remind us of Your presence When we feel small or forgotten, help us remember that we are precious in Your sight.

Amen.

It’s HOT!

The horses have been enjoying having lots of cooling baths this week thanks to the children spending time showering them with hoses and buckets of water. Some of the horses also got to enjoy some apple bobbbing, which encourages them to stay hydrated and also provides mental stimulation.

The Open Morning will be followed by our Annual Prize Giving As well as acknowledging the incredible achievements of all our riders, we will be revealing which of our horses/ponies has been nominated the STE pony/horse of 2026... as voted for by YOU!
