Years 2 and 3 started their session with a Q&A during which they learnt about what life is like as an illustrator. It was gratifying to see the pupils so engaged and enthusiastic about their drawing. Their teachers were very impressed by the high standard of work they produced!

Lower Prep Drama Workshop Year 3 Holi Celebration

Year 3 celebrated the Indian festival of Holi on Wednesday 4th March (the actual day of Holi) with a Colour Run. The celebration of Holi says farewell to winter and welcomes spring; it marks the triumph of good over evil, and it is an opportunity to say sorry and make a fresh start

A Colour Run involves throwing special coloured powder, gulal, over one another as a symbol of spring, joy and friendship. It was a beautiful blue sky day, and The Paddock was transformed into a cloud of blue, green, red, neon pink, orange and purple. The boys’ white T shirts were quickly and enthusiastically covered in streaks of colour, and there was plenty of shrieking and laughter

We were all proud of how well the boys listened, how respectful they were, and how much fun they had.

U11s Crowned UKSA Hockey Champions!

Our U11 hockey team enjoyed a fantastic day at the UKSA Hockey Tournament on Wednesday, producing a series of outstanding performances from start to finish After securing three convincing wins in the group stage, the team progressed confidently into the knockout rounds In the quarter final they overcame Cumnor House with composure, before delivering another assured display to defeat St Michael’s in the semi final. The final against Bede’s showcased the team at their very best, combining discipline, determination and excellent teamwork to be crowned champions. Across the tournament, Cranmore scored an impressive 16 goals and, remarkably, did not concede once a testament to both their attacking flair and defensive organisation The players demonstrated superb technical skill, a tireless work ethic, and a collective spirit that was evident throughout the day Their support for one another, on and off the pitch, was a real highlight A huge well done to all involved, and thank you to the families who travelled to cheer the team on. It was a superb achievement and a day the players can be very proud of.

The U11 and U10 hockey teams continued their strong form on Saturday against Cranleigh, winning five of their six matches, while the U9s and U10s maintained their busy schedule with further fixtures on Monday, Thursday and today. There is a swimming gala this evening, adding to an action packed week of sport, and in rugby the U8s and U9s are in action today, with the U10s and U11s playing tomorrow.

Senior News - Winners!

On Friday, our U12 rugby team took part in the prestigious John Fisher 9’s, now in its 49th year Despite challenging weather conditions, the boys played exceptional rugby throughout the day. Cranmore overcame strong opposition, including The John Fisher School, The Judd School, Wallington Grammar School, and Reeds Going unbeaten in the group stages set up a final match against another undefeated side

In the last match of the day, the Cranmore squad saved their best performance for last, securing an impressive 30–5 victory over Whitgift.

This is an outstanding achievement, and we are incredibly proud of the team. Huge congratulations to the players, and a massive thank you to all the parents for their support

A reading from the Gospel of Matthew

And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him”

Reflection

The Transfiguration is one of the most beautiful moments in the Gospels Jesus takes Peter, James and John up a mountain away from the noise, the crowds and the pressures of daily life While He is praying, something extraordinary happens: His face shines like the sun, His clothes become dazzling white, and the disciples suddenly see Him as He truly is glorious, divine and radiant with the love of God

The Transfiguration reminds us that God reveals Himself when we make space for Him Jesus goes up the mountain to pray, and it is in that quiet moment that the disciples see His glory. In our own lives filled with schoolwork, friendships, challenges, screens and constant noise we too must make time for God When we allow ourselves moments of silence and stillness, we create the space where God can speak to us

Prayer

Lord Jesus,

You were transfigured on the mountain, shining with the glory of God’s love.

Help us to find moments of quiet where we can listen to Your voice When school feels busy or life feels heavy, remind us that You walk with us and that Your light is never far away Fill our hearts with courage, our minds with wisdom and our words with kindness. Teach us to recognise Your presence in our friends, our teachers and in everyone we meet today

May Your light guide our choices and shine through everything we do

Amen
