Instructions

Required materials

• 1 DIY panel, article 06805 from POPPY FABRICS

• Sewing machine and stitching thread

• Needle and thread

• Toy stuffing or similar filling

• Vlieseline H200 Fusible interfacing

• Vlieseline Style-Vil, 55 cm / plastic sheets

• Fiberfill 200grms, 55 cm

• Velcro circles with 2 cm diameter, 2x

• Cherry stones

Pattern pieces

1. Basket 1x

2. Shopping list 1x

3. Strawberry cake 1x

4. Lemon 1x

5. Carrot 1x

6. Apple 1x

7. Avocado 1x

8. Bread 1x

9. Egg 1x

10. Milk bottle 1x

11. Croissant 1x

12. Pear 1x

13. Donut 1x

14. Strawberry 1x

15. Pretzel 1x

16. Banana 1x

Instructions:

1. First, cut out all parts along the dotted line. The seam allowance of 1cm is included.

Cut to size:

• Trace 1x Basket bottom and 1x Basket edge pattern pieces, then cut them out of Style-Vil or plastic sheets.

• 2x Fabric 5cm x 3cm (small bag to weigh down the milk bottle)

Basket Edge

Basket Bottom

Iron fusible interfacing on the following parts:

• 2x Backsides of Basket straps

• 2x Backsides of Leaves

Food Basket:

1. Press the seam allowance of the ‘’Farmers Market’’ label to the inside.

2. Attach the label to the basked, placing it in the centre front of the basket edge (cane pattern). Topstitch the label narrowly along the edge.

3. Fold the basket edge lengthwise and sew the short sides.

4. Place the basket edge and the outer base right sides facing each other and sew around the base.

5. Fold the basket lining edge lengthwise and sew the short sides.

6. Place the basket edge and the lining edge right sides facing each other and sew along the top edge.

7. Place the basket lining right side to the lining edge and sew around, leaving an opening to insert the Style-Vil interfacing. Turn the lining to the inside of the basket.

8. Fold the Style-Vil basket edge lengthwise and sew the short sides.

9. Insert the Style-Vil basket edge between the basket edge and the lining edge.

10. Place the Style-Vil base between the outer base and the lining base.

11. Close the opening in the basket lining by hand.

12. Sew along the seam between the base and the basket edge (topstitch).

13. Fold the handles lengthwise and sew around. Leave an opening in the centre to turn the handles right side out.

14. Close the opening by hand or topstitch the handle close to the edge.

15. Pin and sew the handles to the side of the basket. Secure the handles by using a reinforced box x stitch.

Shopping List / Banana / Strawberry / Croissant / Donut / Carrot:

16. Pin the elements with the right sides facing each other, sew together leaving an opening for the toy stuffing.

17. Turn the elements right side out, fill with toy stuffing* and close the opening by hand.

*Except the Shopping List.

Lemon:

18. Make lemon as described in Step 16 & 17.

19. Pin the front and back leaves with the right sides facing each other, sew together leaving an opening. Turn the leaf right side out, and close opening by hand*.

20. Pin the leaf to the top of the lemon, secure leaf by hand.

*Optional: Topstitch over the printed veins.

Apple:

21. Pin the front and back stem with the right sides facing each other, sew together leaving one short-side open. Turn the stem right side out, fill with toy stuffing.

22. Pin the front and back apple with the right sides facing each other, place stem in between the right sides. Sew together leaving an opening. Turn the apple right side out, fill with toy stuffing. Then close opening by hand.

23. Make leaf as described in Step 19.

24. Pin the leaf to the top of the apple, secure leaf by hand.

Pear:

25. Make pear stem as described in Step 21.

26. Pin the front and back pear with the right sides facing each other, place stem in between the right sides. Sew together leaving an opening. Turn the pear right side out, fill with toy stuffing. Then close opening by hand.

Bread / Egg:

27. Pin and sew one side of the Velcro circle on to the front centre of the bread.

28. Make bread as described in Step 16 & 17.

29. Pin and sew the other side of the Velcro circle on to the back centre of the egg.

30. Topstitch around the egg yolk.

31. Make the egg as described in step Step 16 & 17.

Strawberry Cake:

32. Place the cake sides with right sides facing each other and sew the short sides.

33. Place the top of the cake on the cake side with right sides facing each other and sew around.

34. Place the bottom of the cake on the cake side with right sides facing each other and sew around, leaving an opening to turn the cake.

35. Turn the cake right side out, fill with toy stuffing and close the opening by hand.

Avocado:

36. Pin the three back pieces of the avocado with right sides facing each other and sew the side pieces to the centre piece.

37. Place the front and back of the avocado with right sides facing each other and sew together, leaving an opening to turn the avocado.

38. Turn the avocado right side out, fill with toy stuffing and close the opening by hand.

Milk Bottle:

39. Place the front and back of the milk bottle with right sides facing each other and sew around. Leave an opening at the centre of the side seam and keep the bottom of the bottle open.

40. Place the bottle and the bottom piece with right sides facing each other and sew around.

41. Clip small notches into the curve of the bottom. Turn the bottle right side out.

42. Sew the small pouch for the weighting and fill it with cherry stones. Close the opening by hand.

43. Insert the weighting into the bottom of the milk bottle.

44. Fill the milk bottle with toy stuffing and close the opening by hand.

Pretzel:

45. Fold the pretzel lengthwise with right sides facing each other.

46. Sew around the pretzel, leaving an opening halfway along.

47. Turn the pretzel right side out and fill with toy stuffing. Close the opening by hand.

48. Twist the pretzel into the correct shape as shown in the diagram and secure it in place by hand.
