For nearly half a decade we, as Simmental breeders, have been on quest to find a breeding bull that would be a complete outcross to Dream On. An outcross that could improve calf crop across the country and have an even stronger effect on improving the US Simmental herd. While that quest may be just over the horizon, we still find that his sons and some of his paternal brothers seem to be the sires of choice nationwide. However, the Upgrade sire group has been welcomed with open arms, ad even though he’s not a total outcrosss, he provides us the comfort of being two generations removed from the great Legacy. In a sense, 139Y could be regarded as a near outcross female. She is backed by the prolific supporting cast of the H25 cow family, through her donor dam, Olivia. Olivia would be a full sister to the dam of Cottontail and also a sister to the Whispering Hills donor, Jillian. Olivia would be appraised by many as the different built one. Instead of being sharp lined elusive necked, and upheaded, shes ultra big bellied with a substantial amount of width and multitude of pure substance power. Broody, would sum up Olivia to a “T”. At the young age of 10 Olivia is raising yet another natural calf on the hillsides of southwest Virginia, with an udder as good, or better than most 2 and 3 year females of any breed in production. Our entire herd is Full South African Fleckvieh and all breeding females have been retained over the past 13 Years.
